Boerseun Posted March 29, 2007 Report Posted March 29, 2007 Doin' the Jeffrey Archer rounds again! Busy with "First Among Equals", a bit tedious, and not a patch on "Kane and Abel", that I did over the weekend. But a good read, nonetheless. Quote

maikeru Posted March 31, 2007 Report Posted March 31, 2007 A couple books by Louis L'Amour, a noted American Western writer. Currently, The Great Snow Mountains and then I'll move on to his collected short stories. L'Amour's writing reminds me of that from The Maltese Falcon. He has a knack for sharp dialogue and flowing, colorful narrative, but his characters seem cut from the same mold in every short story I read. Gruff, tough gunslingers, PIs, or prizefighters. Blonde devilish dames. Starting to get a little old. I like action and adventure, but I need characters who live and die on the page! Characters make stories and give food for thought by what they do and who they are. Quote

Monomer Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Interesting books all of themThe fairies really have attitude Try his "Half Moon Detective Agency" too another good read. I think there might be some confusion. The Adrian Mole series is by Sue Townsend, and there are no fairies. So are you referring to the Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer? Quote
HappytheStripper Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Other than New Scientist and The Science Mind which are the magazines I get weekly.. I am currently reading a biography of Einsteins famous equation.. E=mc2: A Biography of the World's Most Famous Equation by David Bodanis Quote
maikeru Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 Happy, does The Science Mind publish primary research material (i.e., experimental studies) or mostly scientific articles about the latest advances/research like Scientific American or Discover? Quote
