Mohit Pandey Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 In physics, there is BIG Bang and Evolution in Biology. Is there any exciting theory like that in Chemistry also? Please tell me about it.:hihi: Quote
CraigD Posted September 1, 2007 Report Posted September 1, 2007 In physics, there is BIG Bang and Evolution in Biology. Is there any exciting theory like that in Chemistry also? The periodicity of the properties of the elements arranged by atomic number comes first to my mind. Many sources, such as the wikipedia “periodic table”, give succinct overviews of this discovery. One of our members, 12262, has recently written a book on the subject. Quote
JackOfTraDeZ Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 how about this: everything, EVERYTHING, comes from lowly hydrogen. fusion reactions in stars first generate helium, then a succession of fusion stages during the later life of the star generate all the lite elements up to and including iron. everything after iron is created only in the rare event called supernova, a massive explosion which creates all the heavy elements at once and blasts them into space, where future generation stars and planets aquire them, that is why they are so rare.
