ggoodknight Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Found this forum, looked interesting. I have a science bent, have read virtually all of the papers by and referenced by Henrik Svensmark, wish I was an undergraduate physics major again, I might have stayed in Physics rather than jumping into engineering. I think the CERN CLOUD experiment is a watershed event and will be exciting, and galactic cosmic ray interactions with moisture in the lower atmosphere may well be proven to be significant, dwarfing the effects of greenhouse gases, natural and anthropogenic, in observed climate change. Time will tell. I googled something and got a hit on the cosmoclimatology forum, thought this might be an interesting place to discuss it. I live in the boonies of Nevada City, a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas in northern California. Quote
DougF Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 Welcome ggoodknight, Very glad to have you here, I used to live in Reno (a long time ago) very nice area good people, Finding a heavenly key to climate changeIt was a decade ago that Danish researchers first suggested that cosmic rays generated by exploding stars known as supernovas help generate low-altitude clouds. The theory is that when this radiation penetrates the Earth's atmosphere' date=' it accelerates the formation of aerosols, or clusters of molecules, which may then grow to become the basis of cloud droplets.[/quote'] swissinfo - Finding a heavenly key to climate change at Cern, Switzerland This sounds very interesting can't wait to hear your input on it,I'M currently monitoring the "cosmoclimatology forum" I see you've been there, ggoodknight I tried to post a number of links to interesting CERN documentation but spamming measures blocked the posting.after you make 10 post you'll be Abel to post links. Buffy Posted September 6, 2007 Report Posted September 6, 2007 I love Nevada City! My grandma grew up there playing in the Empire Mine, and my mom had wedding number two in the National Hotel! When I pass through town, I usually stop at Friar Tuck's (unfortunately not often enough). Hope you find what you're looking for here! Have fun!Buffy Quote
