Kutan Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 In relation to something reaching the speed of light... Is there any explanation about what it might look like when something attains that speed? I know when something reaches the speed of sound, a loud crack rings out, so are there any effects of something reaching light's speed? Does anyone think we will ever reach the speed of light? I know it's such an immense speed, anything we might have to use in such a process would probably just disintegrate.. Edit: I know this is a very random thread for so few questions but uhhh... I don't know what I was going to say.. It might be the lack of sleep talking.... Sorry. Quote
Jay-qu Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Its great that your so keen to ask questions about this stuff, but if you are just looking for answers it may be faster just to do a quick search - as most of these have been asked before :) then if you still have doubts or need more clarification you can post in that topic, or if appropriate start a new thread :) As far as we know there is no known method of traveling at or greater than c (the speed of light in a vacuum) - but there are some interesting discussion going on about FTL communication at the moment. Some particles do travel faster than light, within a given medium, producing a sort of EM boom. This is called Cherenkov Radiation. Quote
Kutan Posted September 11, 2007 Author Report Posted September 11, 2007 Cool and uhm.. Yeah, sorry about the first part, I forgot there was a search button. *Smacks himself upside the head* Quote
