OK...open in general to any and all discussion about the why's & wherefores of whales and their ilk going off course whether up streams/rivers or beachings.

The idea is prompted as I just received a word-of-mouth report from a driver on I-205 bridge over the Columbia River between Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington & saying a crowd is gathered and a spout seen. Nothing on the news yet, but this is just now happening. I recall no such whale activity this far up the Columbia, some 120 miles from the Pacific.

We earlier today had a report of a seal that came ashore in Washington state after having a flipper bitten off by a shark. Wildlife authorities are now trying to find the seal. Possible shark attack not scaring Oregon coast surfers | Local News | kgw.com | News for Oregon and SW Washington

I will append local reports as I find them. Just on a whim, maybe I'll speculate the strange animal behavior is signaling that the fault along the Juan de Fuca is getting ready to bust loose with a 9.0!

That's a wrap. ;) :)
