silver Posted September 24, 2007 Report Posted September 24, 2007 Has anyone been on medication to lose weight? A friend of mine is obese and she has started to take Acomplia too lose weight. I have read that this medication is mostly used to make someone quit smoking. Is Acomplia an effective medication to treat obesity?? Can someone help me on this matter?? Quote
Monomer Posted September 25, 2007 Report Posted September 25, 2007 The medication is mostly used to treat obesity, but can be used to treat addictions such as smoking. It works as an appetite suppressant, and also apparently increases the levels of HDL - the good cholesterol. But it also comes with side effects. If you google the drug you'll likely find some information on its efficacy. Does your friend need to resort to medication? Has she tried reducing her food intake, eating healthier foods and exercising more? Acomplia (Rimonabant) - Technical Information Quote
froster Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 I've used caffeine and ephedrine as weight-loss and energy promoters, though they don't really classify as medication. They work great though in curbing appetite and increasing energy and alertness. Quote
