natess Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Hi, I'm just wondering as the title suggests haha what acid I could dissolve zinc in so as not to get any unsafe gases when I have a electrical current running though it, or minimal amount. I hear that some people use HCL but I'm not sure if it'd be safe with an electrical current running through it.. I don't want to be breathing Clorine gas haha. Thanks. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 It's possible to dissolve zinc in acetic acid. You could probably even do it in vinegar, but it would take a really long time. As for HCl, I don't think you would have to worry about decomposing it into chlorine gas. Quote
