Queso Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Hydrogen peroxide.Does it go bad? I only say this because I've been thru about half a bottle in 2 weeks and it's started smelling differently. Is this due to the volume of the solution compared to the volume of the container?Or is my disinfectant infected?Or.... :winter_brr: It honestly smells like smelly feet. Like valarian root. Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 I don't have the slightest idea what could be causing that smell. Hydrogen peroxide doesn't go "bad", it just decomposes really easily: into Water and Oxygen.... neither of which smells. Is there any chance something accidentally got in there? Any other chemical? LJP07 Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Maybe when your opening it and closing it over the two weeks, air gets at it and causes some sort of reaction...like Jam. Quote
Queso Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 wiki says that "hydrogen peroxide has been replaced recently by better smelling solutions"or something like that. Does your hydrogen peroxide smell? Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Hydrogen peroxide is odorless...and I have a bottle that's been half-empty for a couple months now. No odd smell there. Quote
Queso Posted October 11, 2007 Author Report Posted October 11, 2007 Has anyone ever experieneced this? Quote
freeztar Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I can relate Orb.I've often caught a distinct odor from a H2O2 bottle. I can offer no explanation though. I just tested my bottle that I've had for about 2 months now. It was opened the first day and never opened since. I left it in a cool dark area.It had zero smell. So now I'm wondering if the smell I have gotten was from something else, but the funny thing is that the smell has always been the same. MB is right though, it's not *supposed* to smell. Quote
