Turtle Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Went straight to Strange Claims for this, but only to keep the topic from being challenged as non-scientific. Believe it or not. :hihi: Who ya gonna call? :D More references in the article to similar discontinuities. Do you know of others? Epoch Times | The History Before History, Part I...In June of 1968, amateur fossil collector William J. Meister found a rock 2 inches thick in Antelope Spring, Utah. With a blow of his hammer, he exposed the fossil of a human footprint. But this footprint had a special feature—a squashed trilobite. It wasn't long before the news spread across the world, and several investigators made their way to Antelope Spring, finding more marks made by modern-style footwear in a geological stratum corresponding to extremely remote ages. What strange joke is seemingly being played on history?... Quote
Hill Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Source Stuff in the Air. The Science of Meteorology Online. Pareidolia is always lurking; people are attuned to seeing patterns and identifying them as everyday objects. As usual, there are many more references to this fossil and "footprint" that push the creationist agenda. Pseudoscience almost always attracts much more attention than real science. (When was the last time you found an astronomy column in your paper? - yet it seems every paper has an astrology column.) There are two good links from the perspective of scientific inquiry: A supposed human footprint from Antelope Springs (Nevada, USA) The "Meister Print" Here is one of many taking an untrained observation and using it to promote an agenda. I love pareidolia! :D Zion canyon Utah is downright full freakin' with profiles. :) Great cloud photograph Hill. I reread the article looking for another gem but the other stories (gold chain falling out of lump of coal) are far too anecdotal. Anyway, just wanted to make a strange claim after all> :D :hihi: Quote
Turtle Posted October 26, 2007 Author Report Posted October 26, 2007 OK How about the "starchild" skull? Enquiring minds want to know. 1. The skull in question has a provenance that is not verified at present. That situation may change in time, but for now all that can be said with certainty is that the skull is real, it is comprised of calcium hydroxyapatite (the essence of all mammalian bone), its parts are configured "naturally" (not cobbled together or in any other way hoaxed), and it presents numerous physical anomalies that do not conform to standard skull norms.Starchild Skull Alien/Human Hybrid Lloyd Pye Quote
