Hill Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 Hi and welcome collegedegree. As a kid I passed through New Jersery a coupla' times a year on the way to visit grandparents in Delaware. We never spent much time in the state and I wish we had. Since I learned about the Pine Barrens , I always wanted to visit again. I look forward to your posts. Hill Quote
collegedegree Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Hi Hill, I spent many years camping at the jersey pines! In all kinds of weather and different times of the year. Some of the tree farmers let us stay on their land. We made sure we kept the area the same way we found it. Perhaps at some time you can drive down there and spend a weekend deep in the pines. You never know what is you hear in the dark hours of the night. Or what be around the bend when you are driving a dune buggy down there. (The sand is trouble if you do not have a dune buggy or four wheeler.) I used my dune buggy. What makes the trip so great is that the plants down there are not like normal plants. Pitcher plants.. at certain areas no nitrate. They rely on flies to get nitrate Years ago, native indians use plants from the cedar creeks to help cure wounds..including diaper rash. Good nature place to learn how to survive. :xparty: without ketchup! Quote
