Inter.spem.et.metum Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 Machines would destroy humans because we are illogical. It wouldn't be logical to allow illogical creatures live. The assumption here is on the definition of "threat". Bacteria is considered a threat because it can kill us. But if it didn't kill us, then something else would. You have to allow things to die naturally. Humans killing each other should not be considered natural. But it is a natural reaction, otherwise it wouldn't occur. We are obviously not machines though. Buffy Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Machines would destroy humans because we are illogical. It wouldn't be logical to allow illogical creatures live. Why? Or are you claiming that morality is illogical and therefore machines will act immorally? The assumption here is on the definition of "threat". Bacteria is considered a threat because it can kill us. But everytime you wash your hands after carving a chicken you kill millions of good bacteria along with the salmonella. Are you saying that the death of all that good bacteria is just a "necessary evil" that you can't do anything about? Inter.spem.et.metum Posted November 7, 2007 Author Report Posted November 7, 2007 I didn't say anything about morality... But you would have to kill the chicken to clean your hands after carving it... And I never said it's ok to kill bacteria. The point is that as a creature that can overcome its natural instinct to kill, we should. Quote

I still don't exactly get what you're asking. Quote
