Moontanman Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 it brings beayuty to my home, it eats pre killed adult mice.i like snakes I agree that snakes can bring beauty to our lives. I am currently missing my Scarlet king snake. It somehow manageed to escape it's cage and was never seen again. After 12 years of being my pride and joy, it was given to me by my sons for Fathers day, I am surprised at how much i miss it. It was a small snake and ate anoles. I am licky enough to live where anoles can be caught year round so as a food source not only was it natural it was easy and cheap. The snake seemed to recognise me and would attempt to bite anyone else who picked him up. Not much of a big deal for a snake that had teeth about a millimeter long and couldn't open it's mouth to get a really good bite to begin with. I once caught a coral snake and i was amazed at how very little they really had in common. No one who had seen both would mistake one for the other so it begs the question of are the colors really a coral snake mimic or are brite colors in gereral taken as a warning against preditors? This may be true for humans but they would look very much alike to many animal species that do not share the color vision or cognitive ability we have. I tend to believe mimics have evolved as theorized to prevent predation from animals that fear Coral Snakes. Quote
