Merlin Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Hello, as my number of posts indicates, I'm new to these parts. I just began to read the post about whether God created the universe. I have no doubts. Where did all of the "natural laws" of electricity, magnetism, and gravity come from if not God? They didn't create themselves. Quote
ughaibu Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 1) it's not clear that there are any natural laws 2) if gravity and friends aren't allowed to "create themselves", neither are gods. Quote
CraigD Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Welcome to hypography, Merlin!I just began to read the post about whether God created the universe. I have no doubts.Religious faith is all well and good, but affirming it is not the purpose of hypography. Please carefully read and understand hypography’s site rules. Note that statements like "I just know that this is the way it is" or “I have no doubts”, as well as having an agenda, such as “proving” religious dogma or “disproving” scientific theories, is explicitly prohibited by these rules, and will lead to the suspension of your posting privileges. The Theology forum exists for the “reasoned discourse concerning God”, but, like each forum and hypography in general, has rules – the theology forum these special ones. Personally, I find the subject of the possibility of intelligent engineering of everything from the “tuning” constants of the universe to the dynamics of the Solar System to plant and animal genetics very interesting. Unfortunately, the subject is so politically and emotionally charged, and corrupted by those with preconceived agenda, that it’s difficult to even discuss scientifically without triggering reaction due to such associations. Rules of discussion such as hypography’s seek to make such discussion possible. If followed, interesting and educational discussion may result. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them of me of any moderator (until you’ve reached a post count of 10, you can’t send, but can read private message, so will have to post them in a thread, such as this one) Quote
