Thangalin Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Hey, folks. An article on how quantum entanglement works, starting from first principles, descriptions without math, but with lots of pictures. Quite good! http://www.joot.com/dave/writings/articles/entanglement/ Ciao!T
Thelonious Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Rather awesome website. You could have no background in physics and still learn and understand it all after a read. Bravo.

Interesting and pretty well done. I'm still puzzled. Suppose there is more to the entangled pair than we have determined so far, i.e. another type of spin that determines if the photon is capable of passing through the screen. Here's why I wonder. "To illustrate, if an entangled photon meets a vertical polarizing filter (analagous to the fence in Figure 4.4), the photon may or may not pass through. If it does, then its entangled partner will not because the instant that the first photon's polarization is known, the second photon's polarization will be the exact opposite." Well, instant communication is not reqlly required, just the initial opposite polarization, is. Unless the same photon would sometimes pass through the screen and sometimes not, which doesn't make sense.
