Pyrotex Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 It is 7:30 PM here in the Great Republic of Texas. Gwen and I have decided not to go out, though we DO have a party invitation. I'll crack a bottle of Chardonnay to celebrate the last midnight of the year. What a holiday! I have spent the last two days cleaning up all the household paperwork, bills, insurance policies, blah, blah, blah. some fun. So, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my dear Hypo fiends out there. Uhh... friends. Yeah. :lightning Quote

Pyrotex Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 This year I'm going to cook a LOT more and order less pizza. I guess I could start by reading all those cook books I got for Christmas. Was that a hint? :thumbs_up Quote
Boerseun Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Drove to my uncle's farm in Zeerust (on the Botswana border), for a big New Year's Party with my entire family being there. Good rains have fallen in the last few months, rendering the bush in particular good shape. Awesomeness all around. Fat antelope, fat birds, the whole deal. Met up with cousins I haven't seen in years, talked, drank, pitched our tents, drank some more, made a bonfire, drank some more, relit the bonfire (the wood was a bit wet, okay) drank some more, waited for coals, drank some more, made jokes, drank some more, talked a heap of trash, drank some more, roasted plenty meat, drank some more, baked a beer pot-bread in the coals, drank some more, and for some unfathomable reason involintarily went to sleep at around 21:00 on the 31st. Only woke up the next year. Any case. Be that as it may, I have sworn off all forms of alcohol and nicotene for the remainder of my natural life. But all of you have youself a good 2008, nonetheless. Judging by the start of mine, 2008's gonna hurt like hell. Quote

Pyrotex Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Boerseun,my heart goes out to you, man. And from the sound of it, I should send out a lung or two as well. :)Gwen and I decided to stay home, and skip both parties we had invites to. I love to drink, but I always quit after one. (1) Really. And we had been around people all weekend long, so we were due for some time alone together.I got all my bills paid, and paperwork filed {some fun!} and played a few hours of dungeons and goblins. Read Douglas N. Adams' last book, "The Salmon of Doubt". {excellent!} Went to bed by 2230 so that there would be SOME chance I could get to work on time this morning. {I was an hour late}. Happy New Year!!! Best Wishes!!! Quote
