Hello from Radar

Hello everyone. Username Radar but more ususually called Paul from Belfast, UK.

 

I'm not a scientist. I'm a professional photographer with a life-long interest is science and as such I am here to seek opinions and the knowledge of others.

 

My main interests lie in the quantum theory of everthing. Models of the universe from relativity and quantum loops to standard particle models.

 

I'm a novice who started thinking about things and failed to stop so I'll admit from the start that you will probably want to correct me on many of my assumptions.

 

That said, here is an interesting story for you:

 

I use to do a bit of Karate. I was firmly in the middle grades and from time to time we had to fight. I would step up and face my opponent and if they were of similar grade then sometimes I would loose and sometimes I would win. If they were of a higher grade I would stand for so long but eventually loose to a better technique. If they were of a lower grade I would loose always because I was restricted by the rules of engagement. I was to inexperienced to know how and when to use the rules to my advantage and meanwhile my junior opponent would score points by justing letting fly in their ignorance of the the rules.

 

Nevertheless, I alway came away knowing more. From time to time something would happen that showed a weekness in my technique and so I learned to adapt. This is how it is in the real world - those how don't know karate are the ones more likely to start a fight than those who do. They are not bound by a system of rules and codes of conduct.

 

I a sense I am a junior grade in this place. While ignorant I am ever prepared to be enlightened. At the same time my ignorance may challenge you all to rethink a learned concept and adapt or develope new ones - you never know.
