Racoon Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I just watched a disturbing and eye opening documentary film. No End In Sight - Iraq's Descent into Chaos. Its a new documentary I checked out from the library. People need to see this film.2007 Magnolia Pictures I took a few notes:(Basically this war has been a tale of incompetence by a few bumblef*cks who hadn't the forsight or post-war reconstruction experience.) Many of the problems could have been avoided. The film cites the mass looting that took place after the invasion should have been stopped, and could have, but wasn't.Iraqi's museums, libraries, hospitals, everything was looted and destroyed.Erasing much of a rich and ancient heritage. The only thing the Americans ever decided they were going to protect was the Oil Ministry. General Shinseki's recommendations were ignored. He said, from his vast experience, that several hundred thousand troops were needed. He was scoffed. Consider the war experience of Cheney, Bush, and Rumsfeld- Cheney - 5 draft deferments for Vietnam- Bush - No Foreign Policy experience, joind the Texas Air Guard to avoid Vietnam- Rumsfeld - was a Navy pilot in the 50's but never saw action. And his comments in this film prove what an idiot he really is. Before the War, Saddam let loose 100,000 criminals from prison Then there's the epic incompetence of Paul Bremer, and his disasterous policies!which were1. Stop any interrim government in 20032. "De-bathinization"3. Dispanding of the Iraqi Military and Intelligence service. - this basically put out of work a good percentage of the population and spurred the insurgency. The military, instead of stopping the insurgents, became part of the insurgency. Basically everything Paul Bremer did was a major-league botch job! Despite widespread opposition from military commanders and strategists. Weapons and Storage depots were left unguarded. the Future of Iraq Project of 2001-2003 was ignored. Basically it was one big F* up.(The movie said that all in all, this little fiasco is going to wind up costing 1.8 Trillion dollars! :hyper: Maybe this isn't new news to many of you, but this docu-movie is a must see.
