I recently changed one of two ink cartridges in my printer (the color one). Now every time I turn on the printer a test page is printed and I have to scan this page to align the cartridges before I can print my own documents!!!!!

I've tried reinserting the color ink cartridge but no luck.

Has anybody any suggestions?

Thanks

(could it be because I'm fairly low on Black Ink (the black ink cartridge may be causing the problem))?

If I leave the printer online (switched on) all the time, day & night, even if I switch the computer off, the printer no longer needs a test page printed and scanned for aligning.

Is it dangerous (fires, etc) to leave an inkjet switched on online day & night?

I could do this until the black ink cartride runs out of ink!

I dont have the scanner/fax/printer combo, but on my other hp printers, in the toolbox area (if I remember right), I think there is a checkbox setting that has it print out a test page every startup. Check there or use the help to find if yours has that setting.

I found this I hope it helps you out.

I belive that after replacing the INk cartridges' date=' you are experiancing this problem. The Alignment test sheet always prints everytime you turn on the printer, if u haven't completed the Alignment process.

To complete the Alignment process,

>>Once the printer finished printing the Alignmnet test sheet.

>> Place the Test sheet staright on the scanner glass facing down towards right hand corner.

>>Press the scan button(color), the Power ON light will start flashing, wait until it stops flashing.

>>Alignmnet process completed.

My guess is I'm low on Black ink and this may be causing the problem.

I'm going to see if I can find a checkbox to turn off alignment until I replace the black ink cartridge.
