I'm one of those horrible homosexual atheists your mother warned you about. I believe in science, and in truth. I revere science as others do religion - but at least MY faith can be proven.

I live in San Francisco, have a medical background, but now work as a DBA. I stumbled across this site by searching for "overpopulation" and "homosexuality". I was hoping to find reference to a study done in the 70's with controlled/variable populations of rats and the change in the frequency of homosexuality with population changes. I found a very interesting discussion here about that topic, but sadly - couldn't find actual concrete evidence of the study.

Now that I've found y'all, though - I'll be back.

We’ve no shortage of horrible heterosexual atheists here at hypography (I’m one – well, an atheist, though arguably not especially horrible :hihi:), but I can’t recall any openly homosexual ones – though we tend to be pretty subject-focused here, so possibly I’ve just lost track. Give that science tells us that about 5% of a given population should be exclusively homosexual, it’s reassuring to have you among our membership – it makes our community feel more normal to me.

I too recall hearing of and reading references to an overpopulation – homosexual behavior correlation in a controlled experiment with rats. Hopefully, our collective memories and researching might will dig up some references in a day or three – though I hope you’ll stick around and participate in threads on lots of other topics for some time to come.
