ThisIsMyName Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 My school has Lightspeed System. This is an advanced security system that blocks many, many "non school appropriate websites" (just in case you didn't know) I have some computer knowhow and I've looked through settings and studied up a bit on Lightspeed but I'm still unable to get past this block (without using a proxy). Many of the things I try to do to get past Lightspeed require Administrator Passwords on the computer, which no one except for one teacher has. However, I bring my personal laptop to school on a regular basis and hook myself up to the Internet.using my own administrator account and access to settings, is there a way i could alter my personal lap top settings to void the block or is it through the district network which I am unable to access or alter anything? (Note* I am NOT trying to "hack" the school.... Proxies carry virusus and SpyWare and I hate using them... However I find it inconvient when certain websites are blocks [i am *not* referring to MySpace]) If anyone could help me, that'd be great. :) Quote
johnfp Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Sounds like a stand-alone firewall to me. Quote

johnfp Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Ask the school IT administrator to make an exception for your laptop machine name on the firewall. Quote
