Hi everyone, after a rather long absence, I am very happy to be back. I am also delighted to announce that I got married last week!

Some of you will know that I went through a rough patch towards the end of last year. Thank you so much to everyone who offered me advice and support. I have never been so happy in my life, and I now look forward to spending lots of time in the forums.

Congratulation Chacmool, I'm glad things have turned around for you. :(

Your excitement is contagious, I'm getting married in about 6 months myself.

Congratulations, and welcome to the ranks of the married!

As you’ve likely gotten more than enough sage advice on all things matrimonial, I’ll spare you any of mine, other than to attest that my marriage of 22 years, with its many unextraordinary (and a few extraordinary :autumnleaves:) ups and downs, continues to be the greatest source of happiness I’ve ever experienced, and wish the same for you.

That, and beware cemetery plot salesmen! Along with a host of unnecessary insurance salesmen, they target newlyweds when you’re at you most extravagantly sentimental, like piranhas who read the announcement sections. If you do find yourselves cornered by this ilk, I recommend telling them, with a completely straight face, that you: a) are infallibly protected by the power of love; plan to live forever as uploaded consciousnesses; c) already have an ironclad legal contract to be incinerated together upon death, and your ashes launched into deep space. In my case, the straight face was easy, as my wife and I actually are planning on (:(. :)

Again, congratulations!

Welcome to matrimonial bliss! :)

Not that I'm a leading expert or anything, but I will say there are three things that are essential to a happy marriage: communication, communication, and lastly and most importantly, communication! :loved: :)

Intimacy is what makes a marriage, not a ceremony, not a piece of paper from the state, :phones:

Yup, you hit the nail on the head, after almost 32 years it boils down to trust, talking to each other, and lots of intimacy:hyper:

I have truly found that with my wife by my side all of my troubles are cut in half (or more), If I'm bothered by something I can talk to her and even thought I know what I have too do and she knows what I should do, We feel better after talking about it. when were are done talking we know where we stand and what has to be done, no surprises no oops! no I forgot to tell you, She knows what I plan to do (right or wrong she knows) and I know what she plans to do (of course never wrong!!!) but we know.

the best wish I could Wish is for you both is communication.

(And NO I'm not henpecked)
