stezza Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 Hi there, I'm wondering if it is possible to fire an inaudible frequency at an object and make it into an audible sound, thus creating a wire free speaker of sorts...? For example: You aim the frequency at, say an ornament and the ornament then begins to vibrate and make audible sound? Or the frequency is aimed at a building and it's occupants then hear it? This has got me really curious any info or pointers will be greatly appreciated... Thanks... Stezza!! Quote
InfiniteNow Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I'm not sure about "ANY" objects, but there are already devices which can turn "FLAT" objects into speakers... Like this: Nimzy Vibro Max review - IT Reviews Quote
UncleAl Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 The practical implimentation is an electronically steerable phased array antenna. Broadcast signal cancels except at the focus. You can drive EMF and make a target vibrate, or broadcast the sound itself. Quote
stezza Posted May 12, 2008 Author Report Posted May 12, 2008 Thanks for the reply infinite. I've noticed these devices on whilst I've been trying to find info... they're fascinating. Also I'm intrigued with directional sound. UncleAl this is sounds exactly what on the lines of what I'm interested in. Do you know anymore on this subject...? Thanks... Stezza!! Quote

I'm no Uncle Al, but I know how to Google his exact phraseology as he intends us to. ;) Now if you want to get real interesting, look for the Frenchies sound canon. Talk about a horrible sounding death! :DWeb Results 1 - 10 of about 123,000 for electronically steerable phased array antenna. I can always ask questions on here and speak to a human... lol!! Before that, tho'. I shall look at the frenchies sound cannon... this sounds even more interesting. Thanks Quote

Thanks I think they developed it in the 50's, and after posting that bit earlier I recalled having seen a piece recently on TV about Nazi weapons and they had a sound canon as well. Basically it sets the internal organs vibrating at their resonant frequency(s) and as they rub together they hemorage & cause death. The problem is (was?) in aiming it, and it would kill the operators as well as the enemy. :D Mayber now we can add an electronically steerable phased array antenna to it & get rid of that bug? ;) That's all I got............:D Quote
stezza Posted May 13, 2008 Author Report Posted May 13, 2008 I've heard that Nazi story too... I also watch a weaponry program which has developed this technique to an aim-able device for crowd control. Sweet! ...er...I mean, you'll put out your eye! :friday: If I were to want to put out my eye with sound, I'd do it with mechanical infrasound. Think life-guard whistle scaled up. :friday: Check this out: >> Infrasound is low frequency audio beneath the human range of hearing. Infrasound constantly surrounds us' date=' generated naturally; wind, waves, earthquakes and by man; building activity, traffic, air conditioners and so-on. Low frequency sound is used by marine mamals to communicate over vast distances and by birds to determine migration patterns. At higher volumes infrasound of around 7-20hz can directly affect the human central nervous sytem causing disorientation, anxiety, panic, bowel spasms, nausea, vomiting and eventually unconsciousness (supposedly 7-8hz is the most effective being the same frequency as the average brain alpha wave). The effect is unintentionally (or not?) generated by the extreme low frequencies in church pipe organ music, instilling religous feelings and causing sensations of “extreme sense sorrow, coldness, anxiety, and even shivers down the spine.”(1) in the unsuspecting congregation. Low frequency sound generated naturally or by building work and traffic is said to be the cause of reported apparitions and hauntings (2) - blamed on the ghostly 19hz frequency which matches the resonating frequency of the human eyeball: ...[/quote']A Short History of Sound Weapons Pt2: Infrasound stalker Quote
