The Great Sanskrit language has been a marvel to study and is very interesting.

a virtually flawless language both in phonetics, and script dont you guys think we need to create a forum under the languages section for it?

( we also nee dto install the devnagri script for it though)

Any takers?

I think, i'll like to post in it, so'll all other members from inida. and other people liking it

I have an alternative

what about an indian languages forum and sub dividing in it into sanskrit, hindi,?

they both are very nice languages and indian members should atleast post in the hindi forum.

i'd love to have it though

Whats your take

?

My take is that we need a mod that speaks all those languages which atm we don't have anymore.

A part from the idea of the languages forums we have so far is to help people learning and practicing a language it is not made with the intent of attracting french or german people. The main point of the forums is to discuss science and the science-language (after mathematics ;-) ) is english...If I understood you right you would like to have practice playground and think that it may attract Indian members, this might be true and I do support this idea, a part that we first need a mod.

well i can volunteer, i know both languages hindi, sanskrit.

though me being a mod dosent approve from your guy's end probably.

Though Would love to have it since, sanskrit has ancient science, used by ancient indians. though sanskrit's detailed study may take a 100 years.

now it's entirely upto you guys

Why not start a thread on sanskrit and see how much interest it attracts. If no one is interested in it, then a dedicated forum for it is unnecessary. If tons of people start getting involved then...Well, you know they say that necessity is the mother of invention. :)

CutePDF - Create PDF for free, Free PDF Utilities, Save PDF Forms, Edit PDF easily.

Download the attachment and tell me how long it takes you. ;)

Can't help you there...

I can't help you there either. One of the "dev team" or maybe Administrators can though.

oh also, 100 kbps is the surfing speed, the actual download speed is 2 kbps

...........

There's no such thing as "surfing speed". There is upload speed and download speed. These work in conjunction to get your "surfing speed".

Do you think there is really a widespread interest in it?

I must agree with Sanctus here. Such a forum would need the interest of more than a few members to warrant it.

This thread should suffice. If there is enough interest we should see it here as additional requests in support of adding such a forum.

The user must have the font or support for it enabled on their computer. It is a utf-8 font so once enabled it could be used here by those individuals that have it enabled. Visit the wiki article on Sanskrit for samples of Sanskrit. Here is one sample, संस्कृता वाक्. If you see a row of ?s you do not have it enabled.

OpenOffice is a multiplatform, multilingual OfficeSuite for document creation that provides export functionality for creating PDFs.
