enorbet2 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 OK more clues - That song was featured in "Lockdown", the season two episode of "Lost That song was featured in the Martin Scorsese film Casino, during the scene where the organizational hierarchy of the casino is being explained. That song has been a featured song in American Idol Season 5 winner, Taylor Hicks, 2007 tour. Not too difficult by comparison... Quote
Moontanman Posted June 30, 2009 Author Report Posted June 30, 2009 I'ver never watched Lost, or American Idol, or the flim....Hmmm Quote
Moontanman Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Ok, a clue for my last one, Don Quixote..... Quote
enorbet2 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Here is a new one, enorbit I think you might have me on yours, it sounds vaguely familiar when I say it in my head but unless I have an epiphany I have no idea what it is.... Well the "comparison" word was another clue as the song was written and originally performed by Gene McDaniels and was titled "Compared to What". It was most famously covered by Roberta Flack and especially noteworthy (and worth a visit to YouTube) is Les McCann and Eddy Harris' killer fusion version. :surprise:I see your armour-plated breast has long since lost its sheen and in your death mask face there are no signs which can be seen  Oh Moontanman you are a devious rascal aren't ya? :naughty: I knew right away it was Procul Harum as I am a long time fan of almost anything Robin Trower has ever done and still does. I wracked my brain for the album or song title because iirc it came out after the "Whiter Shade of Pale" album. I'm pretty sure it is "Conquistador". Quote
enorbet2 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Might be an easy one so no clues just lyrics for starters I spoke to the man down at the tracks, And I asked him how he don't go mad,He said: "Look here, junior, don't you be so happy, And for Heaven's sake, don't you be so sad. Not exactly ready for primetime, but accessible. Quote

Conquistador was one of my faves when I was young and in heat for the older woman life guard (she was 19) sitting by the community pool and watching her walk around in her black one piece will be forever burnt in my mind as well as that song! Not sure why her image goes with that song but hey I was young... Quote

Moontanman Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Another stanza for you to chew on but I am pretty sure yours has me stumped. :hyper:Her royal gown is a satin dress, that's stained and slightly tornAnd her sparkling jewels are rhinestones, and her shoes are scuffed and wornFrom the many roads she's travelled and the wonderous sights she's seenAnd I watch her and I pray God save the queen:eek2: Quote
enorbet2 Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 That 2nd clue clinched it. You've stumped me despite that haunting sense from the 1st one that it is familiar. Dying to know now. Mine is from the great Post Punk New York Band Television featuring Tom Verlaine on the title cut "Marquee Moon" . Maria in fact whom I met and hung out with for a few nights during a Cellar Door engagement and the tune is "Midnight at the Oasis". Note: She was even sexier in person.
