nutronjon Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 It is a little bold for me open a thread on this subject, considering my very limited information, but perhaps others can add the information I am lacking and make this thread worth while. Modest appears much better informed than I am. I like H.G. Wells account of history. He basically divides human consciousness between the consciousness begun in fertile regions with mild climates, where the living was easy, and settled people had the luxury of food and leisure time to develop the arts. And the consciousness of nomadic hunters. This nomdic consciousness is well represented by Genghis Khan and Tilla the Hun. These men were great leaders if one's ideal is military victories and human beings behaving like a spreading ant colony. This consciousness comes from a harsh climate, where the idea of a caring God providing for humans is absolutely ridiculus. If there is a God, it is a male sky God who just assume kill pathetic humans. These people have the mentality of hunters and this is greatly different from the mentality of argricultural people. They develop technological useful to survival, but not the arts. Throughout history these people bump into each other, and concepts were spread and blended wherever humans ran into each other. Rushing to the point I want to make on this subject of European influence on Christianity, is this dramatic change from a wise king and God, to an autocratic king and God. Does anyone have anthing to say about these very different concepts of God and qualities of a good king? How might a wise God be different from an autocratic God? Quote
InfiniteNow Posted June 6, 2008 Report Posted June 6, 2008 Does anyone have anthing to say about these very different concepts of God and qualities of a good king? How might a wise God be different from an autocratic God? Your question is like asking how a purple unicorn might be different from a green one. With that said, I'll walk away and let you continue with the historical aspect of your questions. Enjoy. :cheer: <you DID say "anyone" and asked if they had "anything" to say> Quote
