If you or someone that you care about has been sexually assaulted you will probably be offended by some of the things that you read in this post. I hope that you will try to keep an open mind and not be controlled by your emotions while you are reading this. I decided to only focus on pedophilia in America in this post because it is a much bigger problem in other parts of the world like Central and South America, Africa, and Asia. In America 1 in 4 females will be sexually assaulted before they reach the age of 18. And 1 in 6 males will be sexually assaulted before the age of 18.

THE FEMINAZATION OF AMERICA

If you are a fan of Bill Maher or if you have watched his cancelled television show Politically Incorrect or his show on HBO Real Time then you probably already know what the feminization of America means. If not, it simply means that during the past 30 years the alpha males in America have begun to care more about the things that females care about because the alpha females in America have much more power than other females other parts of the world. Pedophilia is much more prevalent in male dominated societies because testosterone makes men do crazy things. The majority of males in America spend much more time worrying about children than males in Africa or Asia. In my opinion both good things and bad things have come out of this situation. I think that some people in America are too protective of their children. I could write a whole book about the irrational over protective behavior of some Americans.

CULTURAL PEDOPHILIA

I can’t watch American television without seeing what I consider to be cultural pedophilia, not real pedophilia. I am talking about news stories like R- Kelly and Mary K Letourneau, and the countless other stories about adults having consensual sex with teenagers or in some cases teenagers having consensual sex with teenagers. Statutory rape is not rape. It might be inappropriate in some cases but it is not rape. If you asked the average European what do they think about a 30 year old person having sex with a 15 year old person they would probably tell you it is inappropriate but it is not rape. If you asked the average American the same question they would probably tell you that it is disgusting and the adult should be sent to prison for the rest of their life. ( Especially if it is a man)

I am going to write a scenario that happens on a regular basis in America. A man walks into a bar or a club. He sees a beautiful woman. They start talking. They leave the establishment to go to his place to have sex. Unfortunately he doesn’t know that the beautiful woman that he is having sex with is only 15 years old. Due to an unfortunate series of events the girl’s parents learn that their sweat innocent daughter has been violated by a monster. One week later the man hears his door bell ringing. He opens the door to be grated by police officers. “ Sir we are arresting for the rape of that beautiful innocent girl that you violated two weeks ago.” The man is convicted of statutory rape and he is sentenced to 10 years in prison. The man is beaten and gang raped while he is in prison. What is the moral of the story? One night stands can be very dangerous.

I have one more thing to say about cultural pedophilia. There has been a lot of stories on the news recently about female teachers having sex with male students. Every time I see it on television I can’t help but think, why couldn’t that happen to me when I was in school. I can’t even imagine the amount of pleasure that those students must have experienced the first time they had sex with their teachers. I was not surprised not surprised by the response of the journalist psychiatrist across America. Oh those poor kids. It is so disturbing. Those kids might be traumatized for life. I don’t think it is appropriate for a teacher to have sex with her students, but if the sex was consensual it is not rape. I am tired of seeing different psychiatrist and psychologist on CNN talking about the psychological trauma that those poor kids experienced. I would like to see one psychiatrist on television with a different opinion. They usually respond by saying something like a child that is 13 or 14 is not capable of making responsible decisions and they should not be engaging in sexual activity. My response to that is it all depends on the way parents raise their children. A large percentage of Americans parents are over protective and conservative. If a child grows up in a home with parents that are liberal and not over protective the child will have a higher probability of being more mature and being more prepared for the real world at an earlier age. If you want your child to make irresponsible decisions you should keep your child in a bubble and try to control their lived as much as possible. That is something that a lot of American parents are good at.

REAL PEDOPHILES- A person that is attracted to pre pubesant children or children that have begun to go through puberty.

In my opinion all pedophiles can be broken down into three groups.

Group 1- People that are suffering form sexual frustration. This group includes Catholic priest and shy individuals that have a hard time forming sexual relationships with adults. People in this group are usually attracted to kids because they can control them. The majority of female pedophiles are in this group.

Group 2- this group includes people that had no sexual attraction to children until they were exposed to child pornography on the internet. Their interest in child pornography usually begins because they get a rush of dopamine and adrenaline form doing something that they know is wrong. As time passes by watching child pornography will become less satisfying to them. Eventually they will begin to think about what actions they will have to take to have sex with a child.

Group 3- This is the most dangerous group of pedophiles. People in this group are usually attracted to children and adults. They are usually incapable of having sex without being violent. This is the one group of pedophiles that usually feel no remorse or guilt for their actions. People in this group are usually incapable of caring about anyone else but themselves.

THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM

If you read my first two posts on this site you may have realized that I believe that all of the problems in human society can be blamed on two things. Genetic flaws and primitive behavior. When I look at a murderer or rapist I don’t see evil. I see irrational information that has been stored in the individual’s brain and I see genes or amino acids to be more precise. In my opinion testicles are the biggest symbol of the so called evil that most people believe in. Testosterone causes more irrational behavior than any other chemical in the human body. Pedophilia will always be a problem in human society if we continue to be controlled by our emotions. Emotions and feeling don’t solve problems. They usually cause problems. The perfect problem solver is a highly effective dorsal lateral prefrontal cortex working in combination with evolutionary algorithms. If you want to solve a problem as big as pedophilia you have to think big. Putting someone in prison or putting them on a sex offender list is not enough. Simple solution usually can’t solve big problems. I challenge anyone reading this to try and think of a solution to solve of all of our problems, because it is the only way to solve a problem as big as pedophilia.

PROTECTING YOUR CHILDREN

If you really want to protect your child the best thing that you can do is prepare your child for the real world as early as possible. That means teaching your child about sex before they reach puberty. I also believe that parents should enroll their children in some kind of martial arts class as early as possible. Most people don’t know just how fragile the human body is. It doesn’t take much strength to subdue or kill someone. You just have to apply the right amount of pressure in the right place. If your child is going to be raped there is no reason why they should go down without a fight.

PSYCHIATRY

The majority of psychiatrist are incapable of treating pedophiles because they are not using the right techniques. If you want to reduce a pedophiles deviant desires you have to tap into the parts of their brains that they are not using. You may have heard the phrase if you don’t use it you lose it. This does not only apply to the muscles in our bodies. It also applies to neurons. Psychiatrists also have to change a pedophiles chemical preference. A rapist might have a preference for dopamine and adrenaline. The job of a psychiatrist would be to change the individual’s preference to serotonin and oxytocin while they are engaging in sexual activity. All of this is easier said than done. I have some theories on how this can be accomplished but it is too much information to put in this post. It would be more suitable for a book or a website.

IF I COULD MAKE THE RULES

I spend a lot of time thinking about what I would do if I had the power to write the laws that people were forced to live by. What you see below are some of the laws that I would make regarding sexuality.

A person can engage in consensual sexual activity with someone under the age of 12 if their age is within 2 years of the individual.

A person can engage in consensual sexual activity with someone between the ages of 12 and 16 if their age is within 5 years of the individual.

The legal age of consent is 16

If someone engages in consensual illegal sexual activity with an individual over the age of 12 it is a misdemeanor offense.

Incest is legal if the consensual sex is with individuals that are 18 years or older.

It is a felony offense for a parent or guardian to engage in consensual sexual activity with their children if they are under the age of 18

It is a misdemeanor offense for siblings to engage in consensual sexual activity if both individuals are not over the age 18

People can possess child pornography, but it is a felony offense to produce it and to sell it.

Interesting post. I don't think Medical Science is the right forum for it. This is more a psychology issue, as far as I can see. A social science issue, anyway.

But the above phrase worries me. How would people be able to get CP if it is illegal to produce it and sell it? Do you implt that it would be okay to produce it and give it away/rent it/share it? Or that only axisting material should be allowed? And should children be allowed to possess it as well?

I think child pornography is one of the sickest aspects of our society. I am personally opposed to any kind of child pornography.

I wonder how much though you have given to the link between the existence of child pornography and child abuse. Do you think there is one?

As for the "allowed practice" I see no reason to allow anyone to have sex with children, although I accept that there is a borderline case when you have for example a couple where one is 15 and the other 16 or 17. But the law is a law for a reason - to protect the children, not to protect the rights of the adults.

I think there some factors that can affect the acceptance as well as the damage that can be caused by pedophillia.

1) Stigamtizing the event. By telling the individual that they are a "victim" and have been "psychologically scarred" to some degree becomes a self fulfilliong prophecy. In some societies it was an accepted norm (ancient Greece). I think paralles could be drawn to the subjucation of women in various parts of the world. Some of the staunchest support for these systems comes from the women in the situation itself. Not that I support these ideals, but for some, the vicimization of the action in some cases causes much more of the personal trauma that the act itself.

2) We have a widening gap between what we consider youth and adult. In many cultures adulthood was reached in the mid-teens with the onset of puberty (as well as various rites of passage). This onset of puberty is getting younger (I think we had a thread about this), but the move to "adulthood" is getting later. We have a distortion from what biologically should coincide (puberty=abilty for reproduction) females that are "viable" (but still children) and those that are considered viable males, "adults".

Now I do not think any of these reasons validate pedophillia, but perhaps with understanding some of the factors, we can bring about a situation that is best for all concerned.

One major reason for the rampant youth sex trade in the developing world is "sexual tourism". For some in such destitution this is the only way for some families to survive, and there is a market of foreign travelers willing to pay for it.

When I finished writing this thread I could not decide if I should put it in the medical scince section or the social sicence section. In the end I decided to put it the medical science section because there is a higher probability of a doctor or a student that wants to become a clicking on it. Medical doctors are the only people that can solve the problem of pedophilia in the world. Politicians can't do anything about it. Some people have a genetic predisposition to commit acts of violence. Like I said before the problem is in our DNA.

Before I add anything else, I'd like to ask for the general forum concensus on this one. Is this true? I'd like to hear from both Europeans AND Americans on this one. Then I'd like to continue with the discussion, as I think vijun has brought up some interesting points.

I would say it's very, very inappropriate. I would not call it rape unless it *was* rape. But in Norway the legal age is 16 years so the 30-year-old is committing a crime nonetheless.

its a sad topic because america is growing aware of the rise of porn as in invaluable industry, the awakening of the last half century was necessary to inspire other forms of enlightenment [the fight against racial prejudice], but in doing so you force all members of society to be aware of the change.. unfortunately children suffer, they know the risk [a fallacy] but continue to explore themselves and others but when adults fall thru the cracks of their desires its only natural they'll go after the easiest targets.

pedophilia is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, the rape/theft of innocence.

as i mentioned people will attempt to justify their actions with lies as believable as i was seduced by a minor. their is just such a plausibility to the matter. but as with manslaughter [though the rape of a child should not be commuted simply on the grounds of weakness.] the charge should carry a maximum penalty. any adult person who enters into any form of non-innocent relationship with a minor deserve every possible torture devised by the mind of man.

i mean.. [without trying to lose focus].. how can an adult lose focus and even forget the consequences of such an action? you are forcibly dragging that innocent into the world of adults. you are forcing that child to become responsible way before they are capable of dealing with such a relationship and its consequences.

sex is all around us fine, its even so overt that very young children can divine its significance, but i'm thinking it should have been the 11th commandment, such basic knowledge that it should be innate.. though shalt not corrupt minors.. the problem is though this problem is modern, way back when the formative years were much shorter, thus pedophilia could be justified simply by saying that the body after a certain age is 'ready', but even so the mind has grown and our societies have also, children must remain innocent long enough to learn and grow into rational adults, this process takes longer now. so even if a 15 y/o can bear children she is a child, and society has not yet allowed for that child to have grown enough to cope with a child.

the short of it? naturally i think we are predisposed to thinking children after sexual maturity [which is occuring sooner in our time] are fair game, but a civilized person must understand that children even if they claim to be ready aren't. and by taking away that childs ability to continue growing they have committed a mortal sin to that child and must pay for their crime.

at some point some guy is going to need to recieve more modern commandments with more severe punishments for breaches.

Personally, I think there is a big difference between molesting a child that is post-pubesent and one that has not yet hit puberty. The situation involving the man in the bar is a completely different story than a man fondeling an eight year old boy. The difference is, in my opinion, is that one is simply sex with someone underage while the other is true child molestation. I'm not sure these two crimes should be both classified as pedophilia. I don't know what the laws are in other states and countries, but I know that in New Jersey the age of consent is sixteen, but the punishments are much harsher if the child was under twelve.

I am curious as to why the vast majority of child molesters and pedophiles are male. This fact would lead one to be more willing to accept the concept that there is something biological and/or chemical that causes a person to commit a crime such as that. I do not really believe that this is true, but I cannot rule it out as a possibility.

Is it true that if a person has a predilection for young people and commits in an act of pedophelia, that they are always a danger to society? Is it possible to reform oneself successfully? Do pedophiles become a victim of their own actions as well?

Do we have any kind of stats to show this? Lately there have been some cases of women molesting boys over here. I would think there is a lot of hush-hush about this issue.

I'm on a quest for stats, but they are rather difficult to find, it seems.

I appreciate you telling us your opinion, Tormod. And the rest of you as well. I agree with beccareb that there should be a differentiation between consensual sex, and pedophilia. However, I do not understand why some people should be granted leniency because they make the 'mistake' of having sex with a minor.

This just blew me away, really. Do you have some sort of stats or studies that can back you up here, or are you just speaking off the cuff? Is there any chance that maybe the psychiatrists know what they are talking about, since they went to school for years to earn their degrees? Could it possibly be that a 12 or 14 year old is NOT capable, mentally, of making an informed decision to have sex?

I know that at 15 years old, I really thought I was ready to have a sexual relationship with my boyfriend. He did not pressure me, and he was quite willing to wait if I said no. However, I thought I was old enough, that I was mature enough, and that I knew what was best for me. Luckily, I didn't end up with any diseases and I didn't get pregnant. However, I can say that looking back, it would have been much better to wait. At 15, I was NOT ready, but at 15, I didn't realize that.

We have laws saying that a person has to be 18 before they can buy cigarettes and 21 before they can buy alcohol. Why shouldn't it be the same, or very similar, for having sex? In some states, you get a stiffer penalty for selling a 15 year old a pack of cigarettes than you do for having sex with the same 15 year old. I really don't understand that at all. What kind of message is that sending?

Interesting point. Without stats, just from experience, men seem much more proud of a sexual encounter, even if they were 'seduced'. I think that most boys would have the same attitude. Most guys I remember in high schoold would have given their (pick a body part) for the chance to have sex with an older woman.

After a quick search, I found a site with some rather disturbing stats...

http://www.rainn.org/statistics.html

-Every two minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted.

-About 44% of rape victims are under age 18.

-Three out of every twenty victims (15%) are under age 12. [sex Offenses and Offenders. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 1997.]

-Seven percent of girls in grades five to eight and twelve percent of girls in grades nine through twelve and said they had been sexually abused. [Commonwealth Fund Survey of the Health of Adolescent Girls, 1998.]

-Three percent of boys in grades five through eight and five percent of boys in grades nine through twelve said they had been sexually abused. [Commonwealth Fund Survey of the Health of Adolescent Boys, 1998.]

-93% of juvenile sexual assault victims knew their attacker; 34.2% were family members and 58.7% acquaintances. Only seven percent of the perpetrators were strangers to the victim. [sexual Assault of Young Children as Reported to Law Enforcement. Bureau of Justice Statistics, U.S. Department of Justice, 2000]

-In 1995, local child protective service agencies identified 126,000 children who were victims of either substantiated or indicated sexual abuse; of these, 75% were girls. Nearly 30% of child victims were between the ages of 4 and 7. [uS Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Child Maltreatment, 1995.]

-Age 12-34 are the highest risk years. Risk peaks in the late teens: girls 16 to 19 are four times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. [2000 NCVS.]

Granted, these stats are not just indicative of pedophilia. But they are disturbing, nonetheless.

brings up the old issue of does molestation affect the development of young boys, or does that early awakening affect them at all?

and of course if there is such thing as a woman raping a male.... *no comment

Do you mean that sexual molestation in general is kept hush-hush, or that the cases of women molesting boys is kept hush-hush?

.... should have moved to norway when i had the chance....

This was a joke, right? If not, it may describe the difference between molestation of girls or boys. The perceptions seem to be different. If you hear about a 25 year old man that has sex with a 14 year old girl, most people are very disturbed. In reverse though (25 year old woman with a 14 year old boy), it seems that the boy is more likely to be patted on the back than labeled as a 'victim of abuse'.

Are you suggesting that there is a difference between girls and boys, regarding whether or not sex at an early age could be traumatic?

It depends on the definition of rape, I suppose. I'd always heard "you can't rape the willing", but that doesn't seem entirely true, especially in light of this discussion. I think that there are circumstances where a woman can be considered guilty of raping a man. A few different scenarios come to mind, besides the one mentioned here involving a grown woman and a minor.
