DFINITLYDISTRUBD Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 Indeed. That's why I keep the pick between my fingers and the strings. :phones: Did you really eat all those things or are you pulling our chains? It reminds me of a guy (I think there are maybe others?) that ate an airplane: CNN - Frenchman eats TV, dinner - June 12, 1998 This thread has led me to discover the disorder called Pica. Very strange and very interesting! All those and many more. Some deliberatly though I really don't know why, some stupid accident.I like to hold my pick in my lips, usually it goes ok some times I forget it's there and down it goes...What really sucks is when I'm holding nails or screws this way and forget! (swallowed more than my fair share) Quote
Mercedes Benzene Posted July 19, 2008 Report Posted July 19, 2008 A roll of quarters.A matchbox car.A bag of marbles. An amethyst crystal.A pull tab from a pop can.A candle.A lighter flint.A box of cigars.A car key.A flashlight bulb.A rossin cake.Several guitar picks.A sewing needle.A transistor.A hub cap from a model.Pencil lead.An entire pencil. An entire note book. I don't think I could ever come up with a response to that. :phones: (Except of course for a statement declaring the incapability of responding) Yeah.... the weirdest thing I've ever had was a leaf. I never really "experimented" with eating strange things as a kid. I did, however, stick a penny up my nose. Quote

Oh! On that *note* there was one time where a teacher was about to confiscate a note, and I crumpled it up and put it in my mouth. I didn't actually eat it, but it was in my mouth. :) Quote
Thunderbird Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Balut: Fertilized duck eggs, feathers beak, yoke sac, feet, yucky, What can I say, I was in the Philippines and it was a kind of right of passage for sailors. I saw a guy eat a live frog in Pago Pago. A grub worm, the wood pulp in the gut is the nasty part. Quote
DFINITLYDISTRUBD Posted September 24, 2011 Report Posted September 24, 2011 a few more from the past couple years....countless hundreds of bugs foolish enough to be crossing my path, an inner tube, SD card, that little felt thing that keeps the tape pressed against the playback head, record, more recently bowling ball, leather glove, malted vinegar sardine habenero and garlic slushy, yeast, part of a rawhide chewy (my dog was miffed!), Slime (very nasty tastin stuff), assorted small springs and fasteners, prime rib. Actually, i might do that still, if money gets low. I also liked dirt. I would grab carrots straight from the ground and have at them. They weren't nearly as tasty after washed. Now a days, i may just eat crunchy sprouts for that fresh dirt-like taste, but give me a musty , earthy merlot and well that does seem to satisfy. Now DD, about that bowling ball...... Quote
DFINITLYDISTRUBD Posted September 26, 2011 Report Posted September 26, 2011 I was hungry and it represented a new challenge to my intestinal fortitude Quote
Lancewen Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 Balut: Fertilized duck eggs, feathers beak, yoke sac, feet, yucky, What can I say, I was in the Philippines and it was a kind of right of passage for sailors. I saw a guy eat a live frog in Pago Pago. A grub worm, the wood pulp in the gut is the nasty part. I had a cousin in the navy during the Vietnam war and he liked to tell stories about sailors making fairly large bets about eating an entire balut and keeping it down. The trick is to make a hole in one end of the egg so you can suck it out without smelling it first. The poor sailor that cracked it into a bowl first was always a loser as most people can't get by the smell to get it down and then keep it there. Quote
labelwench Posted June 25, 2012 Report Posted June 25, 2012 One of the more interesting things that I have eaten in the way of traditional foods is moose 'bum-gut', prepared by the Taku River Tlingit First Nations people. It is, as the name suggests, the large intestine of the moose, cleaned and then cooked. The way I was served this dish, it had been sliced into small thin strips and fried in grease with a few seasonings. It was rather chewy and tasted like steak, or 'steak flavored rubber bands' as I described it to a friend. I would certainly eat it again if it was offered. The First Nations people know how to use all parts of the animal. Moose nose was a bit too much gristle for my liking, or at least the way it was prepared where I tried it. Quote
R1D2 Posted September 7, 2012 Report Posted September 7, 2012 There are some strange things that have been ate. I remember back when I was about 5 or 6 I ate playdo and drank elmers glue. :) I have also ate grass, MRE's, a letter, a envelope (stamp an all), some acorns that were soaked in water (not very good to me), I did take a sip of animal blood long story but I did not know that is what it was. I had involuntaryly swallowed soap. Bar and dish soap. Does swallowing your own vomit count? Quote
