The Police, Buffy? (not the 5-0 book 'em Danno type, but the Roxanne, Sting thingy)
Tee hee! The Police did not invent synchronicity silly! It was Carl Jung, and incredibly relevant to what I was saying about WoOz/DSotM (see following post to Orb). When I was a kid though I used to belt out quite a rendition of Roxanne, which now that I think about it probably really unnerved my parents hearing those words coming out of a tween kid...

A moment for Sting and the boys....

i know it is just a myth since he, and everybody in floyd denies it.

but seeing as how he wrote everything, the words, the music.......i believe on his own time, he wrote it all to fit wizard of oz. there are just WAY too many coincidences.

Synchronicity my dear friend. Take a look at Wiki on the subject here.

The main issue is actually one of technology and availability: The album was recorded in Summer 1972, but they had played most of the songs live the year or so *before* that. You are way to young to realize this, but there was a day in ancient history when seeing well known films was impossible unless the distributor put them on TV or in theatres, and WoOz was one of the most well locked up: it had not been in theatres since the 50s, so no prints were circulating, and CBS had a lock on annual showings of it for EVER. And of course VCRs technology was so unbelievably primitive in 1971/2 that there's virtually no way for him to have captured/replayed it, and even then, it would have had commercials in it that would have thrown off the timing from the uncut, uncompressed version we see today. Moreover these guys were Brits! WoOz is a totally American obsession (or at least was at the time). Thus, unless some miracle occurred as well as a huge conspiracy, it was just an *amazing* case of Jungian synchronicity.

And it is amazing. I think I'll go fire up the DVD and stereo this weekend....

Oh and too bad you're too young to have seen the DSotM Laserium show. Now THAT was spectacular....

yeah, that is a bummer about my age.

although i did see a pink floyd tribute band "the austrailian pink floyd show" play the entire dark side of the moon, plus another hour or so of other songs. they were FLAWLESS, amazing how good they sounded! the tones of everything were dead on, and it was MAGNIFICENT to be in that live, loud environment! the lights, and the background images were almost emotionally moving with the music.

i could never imagine making a living off of other peoples' music. tribute bands are really sad when you think about it..nonetheless, really really entertaining.

do you think it's possible that roger had a copy of the wizard of oz on reel?

a moment for uhh, um....how about the aussie floyd show. there.

A friend of my mom's used to work for Ampex (you may not even know who they are!), and I got to see some of the old video tape machines: a color video tape machine in 1970 took three inch reels and was about half the size of a refrigerator....No, I really don't think he did...and I've watched the combo hundreds of times (it was very popular in college...)

A moment for Laserium, for those of us old enough to remember it (well, as much of it as we *can* remember.... :friday: )

I seem to recall a story about someone hanging themselves in the background of WoOz.

i've heard that from so many people but i've never seen it. any luck finding anything fish tell me, i'm curious to see if it's true or not.

probably...imagine being one of this midgets. probably horrifying to your self-esteem. no offense to anyone!

___I don't think hanging by the neck :friday: ; in one of the scenes in the woods, you see a roady briefly who is just hanging out, as in standing around. I've seen it, it's just a guy amongst the trees. :friday:
