It only joined the rest of the numbers around 200 A.D. so it is basically a youngster compared to the rest. Try to think of what math would be like without it. How would you represent those enormous quantities without all of those trailing zeros? How would you represent those extremely small quantities without all of those leading zeros? Our life in science would really be quite different without it. Quote
