Pyrotex Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 Normally, I am not into arcade type games. Especially not first person shooters. But a month before hurricane Ike I tried my hand at "13 Days in Hell". I quickly got hooked. Yesterday evening, stayed late at work until everyone had left, and I cranked up 13DH for the first time since the hurricane. On my third try, I broke the record: 49,000 and pocket change! I entered my score and waited... and waited... and got a message that there was some error and my score was not saved. AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Godfrey Daniel Sweet Mother of Frakin Pearl. :) ;)  Quote
Tormod Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 Uhm. Sorry. It probably timed out...or, eh, maybe, you know, it's part of the game? :) *ducks* Quote
Racoon Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 That game is creepy :) What a bummer. You're all stoked and jazzed that you triumphed and persevered a high score, only to have a little glitch steal your Gold Medal away... ;) Quote
iViolet Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 i've had the time-out problem too. it happened to me all three times in the golf tourney. it wouldn't have mattered much since i my worst (best) golf score was a '50' and my worst (best) was a '32' which would have disqualified me anyway since the game picks up the high score. the next time i get a good golf score, i'll take a screen shot as proof! :hyper: Quote
Tormod Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 I am sorry for these problems. The arcade is a third-party script which I have very little control over. I'll upload some new games soon, though! Quote
Spiked Blood Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 I just thumped the high score in space invaders, and as the inner geek in me proudly pressed submit score I waited anxiously to see my name as the new Space invaders highest score, only to get: This score was not submitted from the game. Your score will not be saved. Or in other words.. 'You are an idiot, ahaha'. Because I was inactive for over ten minutes my name/account whatever, was disconnected from the forum. It happens on another forum I frequent too, and I'm really getting cheesed off with it. Anybody know why its happening and how I can stop it? (other than being constantly active and refreshing the page every two minutes..) Quote
iViolet Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 I am sorry for these problems. The arcade is a third-party script which I have very little control over. I'll upload some new games soon, though!i apologize if i appeared to be complaining about the games–i wasn't. while i am a bit competitive in my day to day life, i mostly use the arcade to wind down from the work day. i'm not so much concerned about the numbers as i am about relieving aggravation, but i am pleased :) to know that new arcade games are on the way! Anybody know why its happening and how I can stop it? (other than being constantly active and refreshing the page every two minutes..)i tried that once (with the zombie game) but it didn't work for me. i had an active (second) tab that i refreshed every few minutes or so, but it didn't seem to work out since my score didn't get picked up anyway. Tormod Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 I suspect that any game that takes over 15 minutes will time out. I will try to set the limit to 30 minutes. Let me know if that helps. Do any games require more than that??? Quote
Tormod Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 I have added 135 new games today. Have fun! :) Quote
iViolet Posted September 28, 2008 Report Posted September 28, 2008 tormod!! i came in here to give you a HUGE :) thumbsup for the new awesome arcade games! i'm having SO much fun! THANK YOU! edit: um, i just realized this probably shouldn't be in the 'rant' thread.. sorry! Quote
Tormod Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Well it's "Rants AND Raves" so thank you, iViolet. We aim to please. :) Quote
Pyrotex Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Just "part of the game", hunh? You just wait, 'enry 'iggins, you just wait. :singer: Hopefully, the 30-min timeout will prevent the seizures. Thanks. And every zombie's face will look like you. :hihi: Quote
iViolet Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Well it's Rants AND Raves so thank you, iViolet. :D We aim to please. :hihi:well, i am pleased to report that i've just wasted about two hours (+/-) in the arcade. :singer: i believe that a long day at the office justifies a long time in the arcade, right? fwiw, i fully expect my first place titles to be ripped from my possession by no later than tomorrow afternoon. :hihi: Turtle 1 Quote
Pyrotex Posted October 1, 2008 Author Report Posted October 1, 2008 Just got word that the downed telephone poles near my house will be replaced by Friday evening, so I will be back online AT HOME playing 13DH Saturday morning! Watch out! Quote
Pyrotex Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 Okay, it wasn't last Friday. :hihi: But I saw what looked like a linesman truck stopped at the side of the road, right where the phone lines are down, this morning as I drove to work. Keeping my pinkies crossed. Tormod, ol' buddy ol' pal, the 30-minute timeout seems to work with 13DH. I now have the highest score. So NOW, you will HAVE to take me seriously--get my drift? :hihi: While winning the top score in 13DH, I noticed that all the zombies looked just like questor. That's odd. Why do you suppose, hunh? I'm number one! I'm number one! Quote
Spiked Blood Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 Is there any way to personally turn off recieving the automated message one gets when your high score "has got beaten"...? Quote
