cooloola Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Was googling stuff for an assignment and came across this site, pretty cool, reckon I'll drop in sometimes when I get the chance, don't get near the computer much these days 'cause I've got teenage kids. We all need our own laptop! Anyway, I'm from Queensland, Australia and am finally going to Uni after spending the last decade and a half bringing up kids. Quote
pamela Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 welcome Cooloolalook forward to your postsgood luck as you emerge from your parental unit cocoon into the realm of knowledge- not an easy road-but well worth it Quote
cooloola Posted October 18, 2008 Author Report Posted October 18, 2008 Thanks for the hello Pamela. However, don't know that parenting has been a "cocoon" in fact as a solo parent it has been far from it. And parenting (healthy parenting) does require of itself a great deal of knowledge. In fact I think that it is through the experience of learning to be a good parent I have become equipped to tackle university. If you can learn to bring up a well adjusted child you can learn anything! Quote
freeztar Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Welcome cooloola! :hyper: It's never too late to seek knowledge. What are you studying at uni? Quote
pamela Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 hi Cooloola, I know what you mean! I digested more medical books because of my children's illnesses, that I became the doctor's worst nightmare at every visit. Questions like "why is the sky blue?" opens up a whole other area of studying. My metamorphosis occurred when I was called Pam instead of mom. My identity as an individual had buried so deep, I had almost forgotten that it was there.Good Luck with your studies, I am sure you will find some helpful insight here at Hypography Quote
