Spiked Blood Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I guess this belongs on the strange claim forum. To be honest, I reckon that this is not so strange, and I'm not sure what I am about to say actually constitutes a claim. Or maybe it does, perhaps it is the weightiest of claims, and tips the strangeness meter at ten point oh. Maybe it belongs in the crying forum, the whining corner, the unanswered silent prayer that 'God' is ignoring - Do we have any such sections here at hypography? Maybe my post/ cry for understanding, is unidentifiable, and shoudn't be uttered. And perhaps what is needed is a clip round the ear, the raising of socks, and the tightening of belts. I am here though, I have come this far, and this claim of strangeness compels me onwards. I will begin my claim with a lyric, to a well-known song from The Doors. "People are strange, when you're a stranger". I contend that whilst this can be true some degree of the time, that more true, from my perspective, would be the statement, 'People are strangest, when you're not a stranger". As this is from my perspective, truth is also subjectively from my point of view. Any experiences that I could offer, would have no meaning, because anyone that could identify with my superceded statement from the doors lyric, would submit their own experiences. And those who cannot identify, have no experiences to overlap with mine own. Just to quickly generalise the crux of my problems. As each day goes by, I notice, more readily, that family, friends, work relations, brief associates, internet acquaintances, are all increasingly challenging me with the tinniest of things, more often than not, in a completely irrational manner. Like taking out of context, 3 words from a paragraph of part of speech and using it to form the most mundane silliest of attacks, which more often than not begins the weirdest most confused argument ih history(after the last one). Yes, such situations can arise with a complete stranger, but this is rare, few and far between. And no, I am not the biggest drama queen this side of Mercury, nor am I any more paranoid than the average android. I am beginning to suspect, that if my mind is not fractured, then it might well soon be. If experiences are requested/required to advance the understanding of this mind numbing, lunatic making, phenomena, then I will offer some. Here is a 'quickie' just so that you can better understand what I am alluding to. (I readily admit that my response was not at all diplomatic, but I don't believe it is something that I, under the circumstances, should apologise for) Ok, so it is in the evening. I arrive at a friends(after a hard days work) with some beers. On arrival, one of our friends is already there. Asleep on the chair, it was clear he had 'had a few'. Anyway, so me and my friend talk, drink the beers I brought, with the tv on in the background. After a couple of hours, I lean my head on the side of the chair and fall asleep(roughly for about 20 minutes.) In all this time friend number 3 has been asleep. So, friend 1, wakes me up, saying to me "are you going to sleep there all night". Quick look at my watch, noticing I've been 'asleep' for minutes..basically. I think ok, guy probably wants to go to sleep, or be alone, whatever, and then I thought, "What you telling me for, he's been asleep all evening", pointing at friend number 3, who by this point has woken up. Until this point, this is all fine, there's no problem until friend number 3 says " I wasn't asleep, I've a headache I was just resting my eyes"- (he was snoring for about an hour whilst 'just resting his eyes') And then he finished his 'resting his eyes' jackanory, by calling me a "thicko". Thicko is like slang, it's basically a synonym for stupid. A bit narked at this, I replied 'I'm a hundred times smarter than you'.Granted, it wasn't the most diplomatic response, and from there a big argument kicked off.Jesus, huh? Talk about petty. Apparently though, there is nothing wrong in caling someone stupid (and lying) but to respond with 'I am 100 times smarter than you' is ohmygod, ze devil is amongst us!!! Quick what is gods phone number?!? This is a very miniscule, basic example of the irrational crap that is being flung at me each day, from all angles. Is it just me? Am I the bastard. Paranoid. Is the world losing its sanity. Quote
Moontanman Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 I'd just let it go, next time don't comment and if the harassment gets worse find new friends. Life is short, people who hassle you in trivial ways aren't worth the time and effort of coming back at them. Spiked Blood 1 Quote
pamela Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 hi spiked blood, you mentioned that this is happening with everyone around you-could it be that you are emitting a defensive vibe? People will often pick up on that and are ready for a fight. Resolve what internal conflict that you have with yourself and don a smile. Almost every one responds back with a smile and the interactions are "lighter". When you smile, you feel great and are also helping to prevent yourself from getting physically ill- its all good. As far as your friends go, if you are not benefitting from the relationship; let it go. There are people out there who will appreciate you for who you are, and will be grateful to learn whatever knowledge you would bestow on them. Quote
Turtle Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 I'm with ya Spike! People suck and then ya croak. ;) Contrary to Pam, it's not your fault, and contrary to Moon, don't overlook it. Call a spade a spade just as you have and no apologies needed. A damn liar is a damn liar, and it's not only OK but de rigueur to call it out in public when someone is harmed by it.(specially when it's U :hihi:) When they try & scream over ya, scream louder. Those who won't defend their freedom don't deserve it. Down with bullies and bull*****ers. Assert yourself! (or so my therapist tells me. :eek2:) ;) ;) Quote
pamela Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 YIKES! Turtle, I was not placing blame, although none of us are without reproach. Its easier to change the world in me than to change the world. Karma anyone? Quote
