I wish it had not happened, and I hope that the steps that have been taken, and possibly will be taken, will help us get through this more smoothly and with less pain.

I am optimistic on behalf of myself but I'll admit it's not a fun situation. Markets are fluctuating rapidly and as a consultant the years ahead of us may be rough.

If one were to believe in the legitimacy of some conspiracy theories, :) , One might be led to believe that all the Trillions of red ink incurred will give way to runaway inflation, and the destruction of the value of the US Dollar..

And Usher in the era of the *new* currency, the Amero and the North American Union.

 

Such talk isn't for people who wear tinfoil hats anymore.

 

I would be very concerned that the US governemnt will now have a stake and large financial interest in the surviving banks.

You are also going to see the Mergers of large companies, like the talks bewteen Chrysler and GM.

Not the sort of Anti-Trust policies that 'were' a bedrock of competion in a free market economy. ;)

it's so simple, the democrats took control two years ago, raised gas prices, trashed the economy, just before the next election so they could blame everything on a republican.

 

most people don't understand that a president is not a king or dictator, therefore they think he has all the power.

The republicans have been trashing the economy and the entire system for the last eight years, the dems inherited a mess, it takes time to clean up a mess but of course you will not see this. Goku do you really have such a low opinion of Democrats that you think they would actively take steps to destroy our economy and set the stage to bring down the economy of the entire world so they could blame the Republicans? Really? Do you really think this? I'd like to know if you really think this could be true? Really think about the number of people out of jobs, homes, children going hungry, the misery and suffering this crisis will bring down on not just the USA but the entire world, do you really think democrats are that EVIL? Talk about a selfish, self centered, simple minded, knee jerk reaction, Goku please tell me you don't really believe this to be true.

goku, I honestly think most republicans and democrats honestly want to help people. It's why most of them got into politics to start with. Of course in any group of people you are going to have bad apples, any group. You said you thought the democrats has intentionally destroyed the US economy to allow the democrats to blame it on the republicans. If that is indeed true we are all lost and may as well buy the farm now because there is no hope for humanity. To suggest that either side would destroy everything to win is so outrageous it smacks of paranoia. My faith in the government is less than 100% but i do not think it's because of any intent on the part of either side, even well meaning people can do harm if they are wrong. Any one who follows either side with out question should go ahead and drink the koolaid. No cause is so totally good it should be followed without question, even religion has it's bad apples, Jim Jones and his Koolaid were in the beginning trying to do good but human nature got out of hand and his followers were afraid to question what they thought of as a man of God. Even evil can be disguised as good, it's up to us to question everything and and everyone. Anytime we give anyone unquestioned power they will fail us, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We the people are charged with keeping our politicians honest and pointed in the right direction. Once we decide to follow one side or the other with out question all is lost at the point of that decision. Ultimately we are responsible for everything that happens, through who we vote for and who and what we believe in we are responsible for what happens. It often seems like we have no control and in the short run we often have very limited control but in the long run we the people do have control. It's only when we give up and allow others to choose for us that we loose control. We as individual human being must ride the razors edge of allowing others to have their own needs, wants, and desires and controlling what goes on to prevent things from going so far off the edge all control is lost. If the politicians did indeed cause this mess we are entering it's because we communicated to them it was what we wanted and they did what they thought we wanted. What happened was what was lost in translation. to me the current problems stem from to much in fighting due to both sides trying to follow the extremes of the right and left. No sane society can survive by following extremes. Only by being informed and questioning everything can we hope to influence society in the ways needed to preserve freedom and stability at the same time.
