sanctus Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I use (or better want to) skype with my girlfriend. She has a laptop with integrated webcam and vista on it, but due to noise she uses also an external web-cam (I turned the driver of the internal one off, in order that skype always chooses the external one). Since my webcam is too old that I find drivers for linux I skype with her on xp.Now my web-cam works fine with other friends who are on xp, but with her there is plenty of noise and I only get her video she does not get mine... Any idea why of this? Searching on the net I did not find a solution...I have also tried to use msn, there is the video of both, but noise is worse as well as the video size is really small. Since my girlfriend got that computer I started to really not like vista...it wants to be SOOO user-friendly, that you have to click OK 10 times just to change the volume... Quote
alexander Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Now my web-cam works fine with other friends who are on xp, but with her there is plenty of noise and I only get her video she does not get mine...skype uses the same protocol, whether you are on XP or Vista or Linux or Mac OS X, it's all the same, if it works with one client, and does not work with another, it seems like some sort of a version incompatibility weirdness rather then signal processing on a particular platform. make sure you run through all the settings on both machines Quote
