There are two types of molecular bonds: ionic and covalent.

Ionic bonds are where an electron leaves one atom and attaches to another; the first atom becomes positively charged and the second one negatively charged. Opposite charges attract, so the two ions get cozy with one another, forming a molecule.

Covalent bonds are where an electron, attached to one atom in a specified "orbital" is shared out and fills a specified orbital in another atom, at the same time. The two atoms are tied together, not by charge, but because the same electron is now stuck in two orbitals around two atoms.
