Qfwfq Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I've always been keen on scientific topics and related things. I mostly studied Physics and Mathematics, at the University of Padova, but I'm not a researcher. I squeeze my salary from rather tedious software stuff instead. Unfortunately I can't spend much time online, else I'd be glad to be more helpful to posters here who seem very interested in things and (like most of us) like to learn more than what they know, but have had less opportunity to do so. :o Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I've never been to Padova but I have visited friends in Milan and Florence. Northern Italy is a truly beautiful place (and wasn't the trial olympics just held there?). Anyways, welcome to Hypography! What are the Qfwfq supposed to stand for? Quote
Qfwfq Posted February 18, 2005 Author Report Posted February 18, 2005 What are the Qfwfq supposed to stand for? The only one who might possibly have known was Italo Calvino (if he did), I'm not so sure he told anyone else... :o Has it been cold in Oslo? Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Ya, it's freezing cold here now. Quote
Fishteacher73 Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Welcome, Qfwfq! I love this board we seem to have quite a diversity of opinions, life-styles, and locations that I really do not see in other places. It is quite refreshing. And to think that on top of that we all get along reasonablty...(Most of the time). Quote
FetusHead Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 I like spaghetti. That leaning tower of Piza thing is cool too. Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 And to think that on top of that we all get along reasonablty...(Most of the time). Hey shut up! What's that smell! Have you been teaching fish again!!! :D Quote
Tormod Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 The only one who might possibly have known was Italo Calvino (if he did), I'm not so sure he told anyone else... :D Just looked it up. Looks like I need to go to the bookstore! Quote
Fishteacher73 Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Ever try to disipline a fish? They don't like being spanked.... Quote
Qfwfq Posted February 22, 2005 Author Report Posted February 22, 2005 If you find T sub zero (as I suppose it's translated) it isn't light reading but it's very funny, like many of his books. The Cosmicomics are perhaps less heavy, a famous one of them is "All in a Point". I guess FetusHead would like that one, seeing he mentions wop food. The type of pasta that Signora Ph(I)NKO volunteers to make is typical of the area where I am currently working, I'm at a customer's place on the fringes of Bologna. Quote
Tormod Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Ever try to disipline a fish? They don't like being spanked.... Nah, if they act up I bring out the priest. Quote
Fishteacher73 Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Nah, if they act up I bring out the priest. Whats he going to do? Try to convert him? Convince it that the mightiest can walk on water? I just show them the Fry-Daddy and some hush puppies. Quote
Tormod Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I thought all fishteachers knew what a "priest" is (in sport fishing terms). :( Quote

Fishteacher73 Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 Wow...they have a name for everything...and here was poor little me always having to to say, "Fetch me my fish-beating-stick, boy!" I have done some fly-fishing, but actually I'm in to aquariums (Manged a shop while in school, ran a maint. buisness, had dozens of tanks, etc). Quote
Tormod Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 I don't think I would recommend using a priest on aquarium fish (although I have no idea how large your aquariums are). :( Quote
Tormod Posted February 22, 2005 Report Posted February 22, 2005 By the way, are you, like, the last Fishteacher? What happened to the 72 earlier ones? Quote
