Chemical Removal of Glass Stovetop Deposits

Stovetops marred by pan overheating (particularly copper Revereware) should be chemically cleanable it seems to me. And no, I have not reviewed my inorganic chemistry. Revereware leaves a dense, gray deposit normally removed by a liquid abrasive and elbow grease but this can take hours.

I find that using good old baking soda and a damp rag, minimal amounts of elbow, seems to do the trick. Cost effective and non caustic to boot;)
