Nose cells could heal spinal injuries

 

If you thought that the nose and spinal cord injuries are poles apart and have very little to do with each other, think again. Researchers from Otago University, New Zealand, now claim that spinal cord injuries can be repaired using cells from a patient’s nose. This could prove to be a boon to all those who have been left paralyzed by spinal cord injuries.

The New Zealand's health ministry's ethics committee has approved an application by the Spinal Cord Society, which will open the way for a clinical trial involving 12 patients.
