satsumajin Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Hajimemashite (pleased to meet you) — Satsumajin here. I live in New Zealand, and I'm a freelance Japanese-to-English translator. Some of the translation I do is medical, and that is how I stumbled on Hypography — I was Googling to check the name of a drug (vicomycin), and one of the hits led me to a discussion on the forums about MRSA. I shall probably do more reading and browsing than posting, but I will contribute when I feel I can. IN the meantime, I'm sure I will find my membership worthwhile, and I look forward to getting acquainted. Cheers for now satsumajin Quote

satsumajin Posted December 3, 2008 Author Report Posted December 3, 2008 Welcome to Hypography! Thank you!:) Any particular areas of science that you like? As someone who had very little formal science education, I can't say that there's any area I like "from the inside", as it were (as a practitioner, that is) Over the years I've become interested in the history of science. And the more medical translation I do, the more fascinating I find that area of knowledge. As a translator, I often find myself confronted with projects involving topic areas with which I'm unfamiliar, and I always enjoy the challenge of doing the necessary research. (I had enormous fun some years ago learning about the science involved in the technology of concrete...) Have fun! I'm sure I will Thanks again for such a speedy welcome!! satsumajin Quote
