Pyrotex Posted January 23, 2006 Report Posted January 23, 2006 I had a strange one recently.I was riding in a car driven by my younger brother. He was all over the road and I was afraid we would spin into a ditch. He stopped in front of MY house and we got out. Now, I have lived in my current home for 13 years, and the dream house we entered was totally and uniquely *UNLIKE* my house as it could be. It had two stories, wrap-around porch, spiral staircase and a view of the High Sierras. My home is in Houston, TX, has one floor and only a small sun deck. But in the dream, I KNEW this was my house and I recognized all the features in it. In fact, I actually noticed, in the dream, that I recognized the house, as if this was surprising. In spite of the fact that it was "my" house. When I woke up, I remembered the dream house. And then I remembered that I had dreamed of that same dream house before! Probably months ago, maybe a year. Woof!!!! Quote

Pyrotex Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 reccurring dreams. Those are weird, now, aren't they?Yes they are. And it may be that it is the recurring dreams that have the most "meaning", if any dreams can be said to have it. I have had a recurring dream (or dream archetype) for 50 years now. No kidding. It always involves me traveling down a path. It might be a footpath through a forest, a sidewalk through a mall, a country road, a hallway in a building. The building could be a residence, an unfinished skyscraper with bare girders everywere, a warehouse, a huge furniture showroom, a village, or even a conglomeration of huts on the Moon. There are signs of human presence everywhere. Food left on tables, clothing on the floor or ground, footprints in the soil or dust. Occassionally there are faint sounds of human voices or laughter in the distance, but they always fade away before I can get there. In these dreams, I am alone. ALONE! Often I am also LOST! :) Shades of The Twilight Zone. The dreams are not all disturbing. Sometimes I am comforted by the solitude, or I enjoy the game of trying to find someone. Some dreams are exciting as I explore interesting environments. Sometimes, there is someone in particular that I am searching for, other times I am searching for anyone. The dreams can be scary, as even the environments can slowly disappear. I look back to see the path behind me gone. I look ahead to see the hallway itself is gone, or that the small village I was exploring has become a deserted forest at night. I have awakened from not a few of these dreams in panic. This dream recurs for me once or twice a year. But I will admit that since I became very happily married two years ago, I don't remember having the dream since!!! Quote
Loricybin Posted January 24, 2006 Report Posted January 24, 2006 . . . But I will admit that since I became very happily married two years ago, I don't remember having the dream since!!! hurray for mutualism!!! Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 so, I had another lucid dream a couple nights after my last lucid dream. Again, it was disappointingly short. But I have high hopes. I usually only have lucid dreams once every few years... but I've had two within the last week and a half. That means I'm getting there. I gotta do more research, though. Quote
Tarantism Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 i had a relatively lucid dream a few nights ago, i remember halfway through, when sevag had jumped into a pool of rasberry ice cream i suddenly went "what the ****!?" and then proceeded to observe, but i dont even remember the rest. strange, andi also must to TONS of reading on this. any good books you guys? Queso Posted January 30, 2006 Author Report Posted January 30, 2006 what do you mean by "what the ****"anyone can be startled and a simulation of awareness can occurbut was it actually awareness? Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 any good books you guys? Lucid Dreaming by Stephen La berge Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 and then proceeded to observe, but i dont even remember the rest. It definately wasn't lucid if you were "observing". Now, if you were "manipulating" your scenery, that would be lucid. You probably had an instant where you questioned why sevag would be jumping into a vat of rasberry ice cream. But you probably forgot the whole incident before you even got a chance to answer that question. Dreams are incredibly fast pace... scenery changes fast. And it's weird how we usually never stop and wonder why things are so crazy. Quote
Tarantism Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 yeah, like i said, i need to do much more reading. i will go pick up that book asap. most likely you are right, SEAN, about sevag jumping into the pool(with all clothes on", made me question what was going on, but only for a split second. practice makes perfect, and for the first time i actually felt something in a dream, which to me is a start. thanks for the book suggestion. Jay-qu Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 Last night (in my dream) I was out in the ocean and there where some fair sized waves coming through. I wasnt out very deep, just about where the waves would break. Well normally as you would go over a wave in the waking world it gives a little kick up if its about to break. In my dream as the wave 'kicked' up it just kept on growing with me on top on it... untill I was in the clouds. I was thinking 'oh no how the hell am I gonna fall back down into 1m of water and survive?' but alas then I awoke and had a chuckle to myself of me short lived terror. Quote
Jay-qu Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 that is one fantastic dream, status report: i try every night to become aware that i am dreaming, but still, lucidity evades me.and on that one orb - when I was younger I was not only able to be aware I was dreaming but then control myself in my dreams! and sometimes choose what my dreams would be about. I dont try any more because it takes a fair bit of effort and it would often make myself wake up, so I didnt sleep to well... Quote
Pyrotex Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 I have had a few dreams in which I had some "control" of it. Often, the control had to do with flying! Here is part of one dream I recorded several years ago. I am traveling down a cobble-stone street in a very old city. A bird flies down the street, lands in my lap, and I catch it in my hands. Now I am flying over the buildings, looking at the streets and people below me. The sensation is wonderful and exciting. When I look at my right hand, I see that I have the bird held between thumb and index finger. It's wings are a blur, and I sense that it is the bird that is enabling me to fly. When I twist the bird to one side, I bank and turn in a graceful arc. I have complete control of my flight and I'm thrilled. I spend several minutes banking in one turn after another, and then I land on a street bordering a huge open arena, several blocks on a side. I am in the hotel in a large conference room talking to several people. The meeting has adjourned and we agree to meet down at the arena for refreshments. I remember that I have the ability to fly, so instead of going to the elevator, I imagine a "bird" in my hand and "will" myself to fly out a large window. It works! I sail ballistically out the window and look down. I must have been on the top floor of the hotel because it's a seventy story fall to the ground. I panic. I can feel myself falling and see the incredible detail on the side of the giant building rushing past me perhaps twenty yards away. Then I seize control of myself and "will" a pushing force downward. Immediately I feel myself decellerating. I am controlling my fall. I feel delighted with this power and adjust my flight away from the hotel and soar toward the huge arena below. Quote
Jay-qu Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 That sounds really cool - whenever I have had some control I always feel it slipping away as I struggle to maintain it. This happens in a number of ways, during a dream I am controlling I have fallen over and not been able to stand up - this happened in the middle of a road, I have been climbing a cliff and then my dream got back in control and then made me backflip off the cliff, another time I was trying really hard to control myself walking but I could feel myself loosing it then there was a pool next to me and my dream 'pushed' me in. After I loose control the dream normally fades out and ends or I will wake. Quote
Jay-qu Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 Reading this thread has got me interested in the mysteries of the dreaming world again - I feel like going to sleep right now just so I can dream! Quote
Drip Curl Magic Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 ahhh, more dream updates come morning time... I'll try to remember this time. Quote
