I just don't get why i have to introduce myself to use the forums

well saying hello is always a nice thing and we are just curious about your interests. People come here for a variety of interests and maybe have questions as well. Science here is social, and we like the opportunity to welcome you:)

Think of hypography as a sort of never-ending get-together going on in someone’s house. People wouldn’t be very comfortable if someone showed up wearing sunglasses and a ski mask and was unwilling to say anything about himself – occupation, hobbies, like and dislikes, etc.

 

The purpose of the introduction forum is to “break the ice” the way introductions at a get-together in the physical world do. It’s just an effort to make this little bit of the internet a bit more like the physical world, on the principle that we humans are naturally adapted to social interaction, and function better with than without it.

 

If you don’t want to be very social, don’t worry about it – a lot of science types don’t. As long as you’re polite, and especially if your write good science, you’ll be welcomed and lauded here.

 

Anyway, welcome to hypography. What kinda science do you like?

l what you said is right, but there is another reason as well, which you might prefer nuker2guy: it quite efficiently (but not 100%) blocks spam...choose your favorite reason :-)
