ozi-rock Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Hello everyone, My name is Oisin and I'm an engineering student from Ireland. I recently created a web site based on a report i done on the Stirling Engine. I intend to expand this site with my other interests such as perpetual motion which i recently started looking at and which is what led me to this forum. Feel free to check out my website and point me in the right direction if I've made a mistake ;) Looking forward to making some new friends,Oisin Quote
Moontanman Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Welcome Oisin, remember to read the rules and join in the discussions. Tell us a little about your interests in Perpetual motion, I doubt you'll get much support for the concept here but I am sure you can get plenty of information about it. Quote
ozi-rock Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Yes i dont expect to get anyone who believes perpetual motion is possible but i was hoping somebody could explain why the unbalanced wheel does not work. Would there not be a larger moment on one side of the wheel due to the extra radius of gyration? Would this not make the sum of the moments positive in one direction? Quote

The main problem with any perpetual motion scheme is friction, The idea behind why the battery and magnet scheme won't work is friction, friction of the wires the electricity flows through the friction of the bearings, friction is always the party pooper in these things. ozi-rock Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Yes I was thinking that might be it alright, would you think adding the generator would in fact cause the wheel to move slower? Also if you don't mind me asking, how do you add your name and links to the bottom of your comments? Quote
ozi-rock Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks Turtle Although i think i have to go up a level before i can use it :) Oisin Quote
Tormod Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 One more post and you're there. :) Welcome! Quote
ozi-rock Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks Tormod Will try it now :) Oisin Quote
