Mercedes Benzene Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Rather silly, but I heard a statistic on the radio today that 60% of people face towards the water flow when showering, while 40% people shower with their back to the water. I was shocked! I'd never thought about it before. I thought the opposite would have been true. I guess it's just because that's what I've always done. So what do you do? What are the reasons? Advantages/disadvantages of one over the other? Quote
InfiniteNow Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I'm not sure I'm able to answer based on the choices, as I tend to face the direction I'm rinsing. If I am washing my face or my chest or my crotchal region, I face forward. If I am washing my hair or my back or my bum, I face away. So, both... If you're looking for a "primary" direction, I suppose I'd be forced to say "face toward the water" since I spend more time that way with my face, chest, arms, and lower half. Yeah, sorry for the confusion. I mean primarily. Obviously you have to turn to make sure certain places get clean... but overall...? Quote
Moontanman Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I normally face the lady I'm showering with  Quote
sanctus Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 Like infinite I guess, but when I want to take a hot shower just because it is hot and not really to wash myself (or if I extend the time under the shower after washing myself) I have always the back towards the water (even if atm where I live the water comes from the ceiling I usually stand a little in the front with more water coming on my back). And I agree I also expected the statistics this way around, but maybe it has to do that in the statistics there were many people with long hair, so even if you just enjoy the shower but do not want to wet your hair, probably you will be facing the water...can't remeber what I did when I had long hair. carlton-temple Posted May 26, 2009 Report Posted May 26, 2009 As a general rule, when in France always face the shower door as one never knows when the hot water will run out suddenly and a quick escape is necessary. (We have a shower cabin made in China which due to turbulence in the water delivery system is capable of rapidly going from hot to cold at the most critical of moments making rapid escape tactics crucial). sanctus 1 Quote
