belovelife Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 post tension slabs Does anyone else think this is a bad idea. i have thought about this for a while, and heard stories of the wires snapping and ripping through the concrete. These are used in californiawhere is live, and we have earthquakes. I know the positives to this process. But what about the idea of a rubber band. You know when you stretch a rubber band to the point of breaking, and it spaps you finger. Well it hurts. Now imagine that with the stress of steel cables. it could literally rip you in half. Now as the story goes the steel cables hold the concrete slab together and it ploats on the ground during an earthquake, making the soncrete slab more stabe and less cracks. But imagine an earthquake that snapped the cables. With the amount of slabs around, this could be a bad thing. Just asking opinions. Quote
