alexander Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 configured torque, and i just got 3 more systems... they are nothing special but 3 more nodes is like wow Quote
alexander Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 testing distcc with 3 nodes, what a better way to do this then compile a kernel? base, machine by itself: 12m0.469safter, using 2 more nodes (4 more logical processors): 3m30.277s :hihi: compiling kernel is so much fun now Quote

alexander Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 god my times are off... time to fix that Quote
C1ay Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 I just wanted to see what building a cluster was like. Gang some net bootable boxes together with a router and try out ClusterKnoppix. Quote
alexander Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 only problem is that it hasnt been touched for 4 years or something to that extent... its good for quick cluster, or playing around, buut not too practical if you want to learn how it all works etc, etc :blahblahblah: Quote
C1ay Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 That's all I posted it for, as something to play with. I used it 5 or so years ago to throw together a quick cluster as a demo for someone. Quote
alexander Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 ok update current hardware: master:3.4Ghz P4ht 800Mhz fsb2.5Gb DDR400 node 1:3.0Ghz P4ht 800MHz fsb1.5GB ddr400 node2:3.2Ghz p4ht 800MHz fsb2.0GB ssr400 i now have to make all the software work before i add more nodes... currently its not cooperating very much, it fails running jobs... well the batch job manager seems to work its just that it does not seem to properly work when running an mpi job... who knows... more troubleshooting hey if anyone has any experience with building parallel computing clusters and wouldn't mind answering some questions, PM me Quote
