queti Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 i am trying to get an explanation of the word ION. this pertains to agriculture Quote
Essay Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Welcome, Do you mean ion, ...as in cations and anions (positive and negative ions)? Ions are atoms which have either lost or gained electrons, giving them an electric charge. This changes their reactivity and their availability as nutrients for agriculture. Ions are forms of the atoms which are considered as nutrients for plants (fertilizer). Ions are many other things too, but in agriculture...Manganese ions are important in soil chemistry (health and nutrition), as well as many others. Salt disolves in water to create Sodium and Chlorine Ions floating around in the water. Is this the kind of ION that you mean? ~ :) Quote
