jefft0 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Hello. My name is Jeff Thompson. I wanted to participate in some of the discussions I've seen here that address foundational questions. I have a mathematical background in electrical engineering and now work as a software engineer. I read lots of popular science books like Victor Stenger's "Comprehensible Cosmos", etc. I have also contributed to lots of open source software projects and am interested in logical deduction and knowledge representation systems. jefft0 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 just out of curiosity, which open-source projects did you work with / contribute to? Most recently, Yield Prolog which is an efficient compiler of Prolog into languages which support the "yield" keyword, such as C#, Javascript and Python. See yieldprolog.sourceforge.net . (You have to copy and paste this, since I'm not allowed to use links yet.) Another project, Browlser uses Yield Prolog as the inference engine to implement the Semantic Web Rules Language, running in Javascript in your local browser. This is a general purpose browser for OWL (hence "Browlser") if that means anything to you. See browlser.sourceforge.net . The calendar demo is the primary calendar I use to schedule my tasks. A quickie was a Java applet to similate a dynamic theory. See agentdynamics.sourceforge.net . A long time ago was a Java applet to display the sheet music format NIFF. See niffty.sourceforge.net .
