socialsamurai Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Hello all. Well, I am socialsamurai, and I guess that I chose that name because the lifestyle and honor of the samurai code has always been something that I've aspired to live by. I'm a business analyst by trade, but used to work in IT supporting several applications and platforms. I found this site on google. I have NO idea how it translated what I was searching for into this, but it works for me. I've been looking for a long time to find a place that I could go to, throw some questions out, get some feedback, and learn some stuff. I love astrophysics, physics, chemistry, math, biology...um...everything? ...and, I'm not a spambot! Quote

"I love astrophysics, physics, chemistry, math, biology...um...everything?" -ss ...not trying to be snarky, but shouldn't the question be what was being googled to end up here...? I also have found some of the weirdest forums by googling....Not that this one is a weird forum....=== Okay, I'll shut up now and go to sleep. :)=== Welcome SS,Enjoy the diversity, Integrative Science, Artificial Intelligence, and all the very natural intelligence too. ~ SA Quote

Michaelangelica Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Hi socialsamurai,When I was a kid i was fascinated by samurai. There was a TV show about them.We used to make fairy deadly star-disk/weapons out of tin can tops.Amazing, that in my long street, we lost very few kids' body parts. Perhaps the whole ethos has been romanticised like King Arthur et al. Now I would like to know how they made such excellent steel swords.and what they do now with shiploads of chopped up Australian forests. I find the Japanese culture very alien, hate Madam Butterfly (too sad, and I disgrace myself by weeping) but I adore Japanese food especially sushi and sashimi-as long as I can convince them to hold the MSG. The film Australia shows the Japanese bombing of Darwin which was mostly kept secret from the Australian people. There was areal fear they would invade while most of our troops were fighting for the British.PSWelcome to Hypography:) Quote

alexander Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 It's nice to join a social group that doesn't ridicule someone just for joining!is that a challenge? no lol, welcome to hypography, the only place you know where we not only know Bushido, and have people that sometime unknowingly follow it, we know the history of the way, the history behind the principles and beliefs (started from a series of thoughts described in classical Confucian ethics over many years of the Japanese development of their self-image...) that were extrapolated on by the Japanese, and the physics that make a samurai, not only well psychologically and socially balanced warrior, but also a superior and feared warrior of their time ;) Quote
