alexander Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Welcome to scienceforums, what are your areas of interests, what do you do, what do you like to do? Quote
Moontanman Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Welcome Maggie, this is the place for answers for sure :) Quote
Maggie D Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 what I like to do? I like to stay at home by the fire and drnk a nice hot cup od Chai, I like playing with my daughter, I am a administrative Assistant a mom and a wife Quote
alexander Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 not that big into chai, personally, though i do like your idea about home, fire and good tea or coffee or beer or wine or scotch (single malt and well-aged). Though i get scared about having kids, something about having to put up with another one of me... wont be a treat, i know that, something about self-teaching, quick with a joke, sleep deprived geeks that have more hobbies then days in a month, conbined with antisocial elements of overanalytical self-being, with endless psychological experimentation, for the refinement of one's own theories of the human in an attempt to understand the society... Welcome, Maggie, i know a fair amount of AA's due to my nature of work, actually i know a fair amount of AA's who are mothers, about an even split between single and married. Let me take a wild swing at this quick psychological profile: although the lack of information in your response, by your nature, i would guess that you have to be a positive thinker, who is very outgoing, and organized, social, but down to the point person who does not have a hard time coming up with the right words to communicate your ideas. I would think that you have a knack about remembering events, especially events that are planned for the near future, i wouldn't think you often forget your friend's and family birthdays, and also i think you are good with remembering names. Also by your work i would think that you would be well-dressed and well-mannered person, with a very legible writing style (which is an indication of a better education, especially in your linguistic abilities). I would think that you are also at least bilingual and that you didn't have much trouble with English in school? Also it is likely that you are a fairly artsy person, and those assumptions lead me to put you in the category of women that use the term "cute"... well, i hope i got some hits there and it wasnt an exercise you dint' like, Maggie. Welcome to scienceforums, the only place you know where the recognized relation between "education" and "knowing" is reflected in the amount of activity and directly correlated to the average length of that person's posts, with a trend usually visible after as little 50-70 posts. It is also related to the spread of the activity on the forums, generally the more longer posts in more areas of the forum, the more "knowing" a person has, the more long posts in one section, the more "education" one has, the more shorter posts in many sections of the forum, the more attention one craves, and the more they want to learn, but don't know :singer: Quote
Maggie D Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 wow that is crazy every thing you said about me is true and I have never talked to you before do I know you?? I speak spanish and english I do dress well as I can I am not that educated however I try to be. wow I am suprised what is an AA? my handwriting is not that good but I try I did not have much to say about what I like to do because after work and all is said and done all I really do is day dream I am a deep thinker almost in a transe some times I get scared like I am going to have an out od body experience I know it sounds crazy but it is true Maggie Quote
alexander Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 I doubt we've ever met, besides i've never been to Kansas ( guessing somewhere in the Newton neighborhood?) Btw, don't freak out if i'm right on this, i'm not psychic, since i'm an admin here, i have the ability to view what the IP address you logged in last from was, and IP's can be traced to approximate locations, i just wanted to double check to make sure i didn't, i'm in Connecticut btw, so no i am not stalking you or something. I need to clear the misinterpretation of what i mean by "education", an educated person is not someone who necessarily has a doctorate in neurochemical engineering, a "well educated" person is one who learned how to learn, and tries to learn when they can, and judging by your response you are "educated", simply because you try to be. Making psychological portraits, well in this case it's more of a sketch, really, is a hobby of mine, since observing, analyzing people and their behaviors, and by that trying to understand them. You have a very unique job, and btw AA is just short for administrative assistant; but since i know a few AAs i really haven't tried putting together a profile for someone who i didn't know who's a successful AA, and it's always a challenge, but one that once you molded your ideas around what the people required to do the job are, provide clues into other people. Jobs speak a lot about people, especially unique jobs, and those while perceived as stereotypes, reinforced by other lively "conditions", paint a psychological picture of a person, most of the time that is very accurate. From there, its educated guesswork, really, using something to build off of another, actually i think i could have tied some more characteristics into it, from the wife part... let me ask you something that i actually am fairly sure on, but it will once again add to my evergoing investigation into our society and us as species... You do keep a book by your bedside, don't you, you do like to read, and you probably either do, or would like to read books at work? (answer may prompt a couple of more questions) Lastly, i don't at all find thinking in a trance-like mode weird, or strange, i do it often. Last time i sat down just to think i ended up spending 4 and a half hours sitting there, and i would have continued had my nose not started bleeding... What i arrived at, amongst other things was a realization that my best friend was pregnant, thought that was only confirmed a month and a half later, when she told me that she was 3 months pregnant; an interesting reaction to "Yeah, i know", though, to this date i can't forget the face and the silence :) Quote
Maggie D Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 wow I thought i was the only one who lost track of time like that, I love your thinking about education BRILLIANT Quote
Maggie D Posted February 26, 2009 Author Report Posted February 26, 2009 I am from Portland oregon Quote
alexander Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 well, thats even farther away... so no, we have even moster definitelyer never met :) err :hyper: oh i copied the ip wrong... oh well, whatever, actually its a way to get location information from someone, i've done this for an experiment before, pretend to be a person who can just guess where someone is from, and say a location out of nowhere, just a random city, then they go "no, i'm from..." and now you know where they live :hyper: it's a grood conversation starter, "Excuse me, hi, i'm alex, i have a nack for guessing where people live, and i just wanted to test that, uuh, i'm getting a town starting with... wait... <random town name> ...". If you sell that just right, they will come back with, something like "my name's <name> and i actually live in <town>", then you just have to appologize, tell them that you are generally pretty spot on, point to some people in the crowd and name even more random cities, it's just an interesting way to pick up girls, oh wait, you are married, and a girl, well woman, ok, ok, its an interesting way to meet people and its an interesting social experiment... like walking towards a person, get their attention and as you are passing them, say a random number, goal is, continue walking for at least 4-5 steps before looking back... gets people uber confused and they forget what they were about to do, it's funny to see their reactions. Similarly, stay in one spot and stare with some interest at something, someone walking by will attempt to figure out what it is you are staring at, by staring at it as well, at that point just walk away, great reactions when their attention gets away from the nonexisting attention getter, and they realize they are alone Quote
