modest Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I think a lot of people have given Maggie excellent advice and I hope, wholeheartedly, that she acts on this advice. Maggie, you are describing very classical auditory hallucinations and delusions. What you were saying about the big dipper is usually called a delusion of reference, and your writing also shows some tangential or formal thought disorder. These are all very typical signs of schizophrenia. You *absolutely* need to be on an anti-psychotic medication. If Risperdal did not help then you should tell the practitioner who prescribed it why and how it did not help. Let a psychiatrist help you find a treatment that will help with these symptoms. I think we've all become very fond of you and concerned for your well being. Please... ~modest
Cedars Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I disagree with the general assessment given here. Maggie has seen numerous doctors/counselors, attempted many medications, and still the symptoms persist. May I suggest Hypochondriasis.
Boof-head Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 Yeah, may I also suggest that getting yourself admitted, might not be the greatest idea either; you could end up doing the thorazine shuffle. Maybe I wasn't crazy enough for that (and I was able to flush the pills they gave me); I was a smart-***.
freeztar Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 May I suggest Hypochondriasis. I'm unaware of symptoms of hearing voices associated with hypochondriasis. So no, I don't think that's the underlying issue.

Please consider this while reading posts in this thread.Really I thought we all had advanced degrees In Everything from Google ? :smilingsun:Personally, I check the snail- mail everyday for my pretty Tudor Bonnet, and wizard's robes.I really NEED that Bonnet. Has Maggie slipped off the radar? Can the PMers contact her? She is obviously very scared and worried about this. Boof-head Posted March 7, 2009 Report Posted March 7, 2009 This is a serious discussion and not to be taken lightly.Thorazine is a seriously disabling pharmaceutical - I've seen what it does to people, I have direct experience, having been in such an institution. There isn't anything funny about what it does, nor about serious psychiatric illness. Nor is there anything funny about the essentially arcane and medieval way these people were treated back when I witnessed it first-hand. I was fortunate I suppose, since the head orderly was also an old schoolmate.May I suggest you take your homilies elsewhere.
